Description

Car is being relisted at a lower price. Make an offer and we can talk. I am open to separating the engine from the car if you want just the body and chassis.
1955 Chevrolet 2 door post Gasser project. I have owned this car since 2011 and have been working on it over time. I have 3 other projects I am working on at the same time, so I am looking to free up some cash to complete the other cars. I have included some pictures of the build in process so you can get a feel for what I have done.
The body has been soda blasted and is in bare metal. I have sand blasted the underside and chassis, and painted the underside of the car with gray epoxy. The body has been mini tubbed in the rear and made to look factory. The body will accept 10 inch slick with no clearance issues. Floors have been replaced and the firewall was rewelded after being beat in for clearance at one time. It has steel doors and steel deck lid, but the front end is fiberglass to save weight.
The chassis has been completely reworked with NASCAR truck trailing arms in the in the rear with AFCO drag shocks, and 1952 F100 from axle and leaf springs. I welded tube cross members in the stock frame for torsional rigidity. The chassis has been clipped in the front, and made so that it looks like the factory had done it with both rossette welds and seam welds. The chassis has been boxed for the RCI fuel cell in the trunk.New tires and rims on the front with older 8 inch slicks on the rear just to roll around on. The 9 inch rear axle has been narrowed and bridged for strength and has a detroit locker rear end with 3.50 gears
The motor sits on an original Hurst motor mount and the headers have been ceramic coated. The engine is a GM Merc Marine motor that spun a main bearing. It has the rectangular port heads but no crank rods, or pistons. Brand new ZIG Magneto with cable tach drive. My plan was to stroke the motor to a 540ci and run the blower boost so it could run on pump gas. The Hampton blower has all the pulleys and idler pulley along with teflon tipped rotors. The transmission is just an empty case, so you can do the car as a 4 speed or automatic. I have the pedals to make it either clutch or automatic.
I have a ton of additional parts including trim pieces, windshield and rear window, window risers, dash parts etc, etc. I can help with transportation guidance and will load it up for you when you get here. The only trade I would consider is for a early Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser. Call me if you have any questions. 704-918-6272 Curt
