Description
1976 Chevrolet Corvette - L48 - 3-Speed Automatic *I have videos of the car running, if you would like to see it please let me know. I am also open to offers so if you're interested just reach out!* Vehicle Overview:I've owned this car for about 8-years, but it has unfortunately sat for the last four. Originally purchased in Jensen Beach, Fl. I believe the prior owner had used it primarily for drag racing. He had a very large and expensive collection of cars and the Corvette was sitting in the back. There are some remaining modifications that show this history. While the car is complete, runs and drives, please note that this is what I would describe as a 20/20 car. It looks great from 20 feet going 20 Mph. Below is a list of problems that I am currently aware of. I'm trying to be as straightforward as possible so that the potential buyer understands the condition and can take the appropriate steps to restore the car. Vehicle Condition: Engine & Transmission: Engine appears to have been highly modified by the previous owner. Has an Edelbrock intake, long-tube headers and a full exhaust. The car has a lumpy cam and an aftermarket carburettor. While it sounds great it does not run as strong as you'd hope. I believe the prior owner put back on the original heads, so she is starving for air. Sounds amazing though, please see the video clip. The transmission is a 3-speed automatic and shifts perfectly fine. However, she does leak and the fluid level has to be checked every few weeks. The engine starts right up but has an issue with starter motors as I've had to change it a few times. Interior: The interior is in fair condition. Most of the gauges work, but the main two (tach and speedometer) stopped functioning shortly after I purchased the car. The prior owner had new seat covers installed which look good. The door cards and dash look fair for their age. The T-Tops leak from the rear (even with new weatherstrip) so the rug behind the seat is a bit rusty from the water accumulating on the floor. Exterior: The exterior looks decent from a distance, but the paint does have its issues. The car appears to have originally been red. It was painted gold at some point with the striping. At some point, she had an air intake coming out from the hood, as you can see the mark on the cowl from where it was refilled. Car also has newer style side mirrors installed on both doors. The paint on the T-tops has peeled significantly over the years. Also, she has a number of hits and chips throughout the body from debris falling on it during the 2017 hurricane. Headlights open and close properly. A/C: Blower motor works but the A/C does not function. It worked years ago but when the car was recently restarted the compressor no longer turns on. Brakes: When I purchased the car the passenger side calliper was seized. I replaced the master cylinder, distribution block and both front callipers. While she brakes, she does not stop as well as I would hope. I believe there might be another issue with either the rear brakes or the vacuum diaphragm. Upgrades & Repairs:The following is a list of repairs/upgrades that I performed on the car during the 8-years:
Replace door and t-top trim (some of this new trim is already rusting out, please see pics)
Install New Carpet
New Master Cylinder, distribution block and New Front Brake Calipers
Had the Passenger Side Floor and Seat Belt Pockets Rewelded (Show some rust already)
New Air Intake Filter
New Starter Motor
The car is very attractive and has a great presence due to the aggressive styling, engine and exhaust. I, unfortunately, do not have the time or resources to keep her any longer. If you have any questions please let me know and I'll follow up as soon as possible. I expect a small deposit ($250) from the winning bidder and pickup/shipping can be set up afterwards.
