By 1970, the horsepower race was in full swing. FoMoCo, GM, and Mopar all offered multiple cars with big block V8s that had (conservative) horsepower ratings in the 400 range. Chevrolet introduced the mid-size, A-body Chevelle in 1964, offering many different body styles and a plethora of engines including three inline sixes, two small blocks and even a big block 396. The next revision came in 1968 when the Chevelle embraced more of its muscle car lineage. The newly updated body would continue on the success of the originals and would make a perfect predecessor to the 1970 models. Enhancing on the success of the ’70 model year, the ’71 was introduced with revised front and rear fascias, now with half as many headlights and twice the taillights. The once again updated body was one of the most iconic shapes of the muscle car era. In SS trim, the car mandated at least a 350ci V8, as well as HD suspension, blacked out grille, SS rear trim, and wide oval tires on sport wheels. Less than half of all factory production Super Sport equipped cars possess the potent LS5 454ci V8 engine!

This outstanding 1971 Chevelle Super Sport Hardtop was restored in true, frame off fashion with no bolt left untouched! Beginning with a fully blasted chassis & rust free body, both were treated to a no expense spared restoration completed in 2008. With the chassis fully repainted, it was fitted with all new hardware, fuel & brake lines, fresh suspension, fuel tank, body bushings, brake components, and other necessary components! The exterior body was treated to hours of preparation and block sanded multiple times to ensure the application of factory code correct 19- Tuxedo Black would result in a stunning, mirror like finish! The white stripes are taped perfectly without a single flaw, and buried under multiple layers of clear coat leaving no trace of an edge! Serious collectors know exquisite paint jobs like this are not only hard to find, but also very expensive to produce. Leaving nothing short of the best ensured the interior matched all other aspects of the car. Everything new and finished just as it left the factory, all in Black, with factory bucket seats and center console. Every wire harness is new, all features are fully functional, and it comes highly detailed everywhere you look! This car would be rated Excellent in every possible respect! It is a multiple GM Performance Show Car Series award winner in over 7 cities taking Best in Class honors, and Outstanding Engine detail & Outstanding Interior at International Show Car Series events.
