Welcome to Street Dreams in Texas as we celebrate our 19th year in the classic and muscle car business. When you say classic car often one that comes to mind is a Corvette. This year 1978 is an extra special year for Corvette being the 25th year for the model. Chevrolet was given the opportunity to showcase their Corvette as the official pace car for the 1978 Indy 500. Chevrolet then replicated this pace car to be sold to their... customer base. They planned to produced 300 like the 1960 pace car, but it's popularity ended up increasing it to one for each Chevrolet dealership amounting to 6,502. The option to obtain one of these official pace car replicas was a good bit of extra money. This one was opted with the L82 350 ci V8 which produces 220 hp. Driving one of these could make you feel like Jim Rathmann the winner in 1960 and driver for the 1978 pace car. The same independent front and rear suspension that came stock was also used in the pace car on the Indy 500 track. This car is also equipped with vented four wheel disc brakes to keep that 260 lbs.ft. of torque under control. This particular pace car is equipped with the Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 automatic transmission. An automatic transmission was the most opted for in these years continuing to grow to it being standard these days. The interior is equipped with all needed options Leather seats, air conditioning, sport mirrors, mirrored glass T-tops, tilt/telescopic steering, dual rear speakers, AM/FM/8-Track, power antenna, windows, and locks. Another option that was added to this particular pace car was the CB radio. Which could help to contact your "Good Buddy" and see where the "Texas County Mounty" is.
