Up for sale is my 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. This car has a clear title and it is fairly clean/original car.I’ve owned it about a year and I enjoy driving it.It has never left me on the side of the road but I haven’t taken it on long road trips.I am a private seller and the vehicle is for sale locally. Thus, I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. There is no warranty with this vehicle, either expressed or implied. It has a V8 motor (305, I believe) and a power glide transmission.Aside from regular/minor maintenance, the car is exactly as I acquired it.I currently drive it regularly to car shows, the local drive in, etc.My daughter calls it “stripe car”.The interior and exterior are orange in color. The pictures included in this listing were taken 8/4/2018.I took a video while driving the car 8/4 and will attempt to add it to the listing.(If eBay will not allow that, send me an email for a link to the video) Mileage on body/engine are unknown.
The Good:
·Running/driving car – Starts right up after sitting for a few days but you’ll need to pump the gas a few times
·Fairly complete and virtually all things work (minor issues mentioned below)
oTurn signals
oHorn
oWindshield wipers
oSeat movement/track mechanism
oDoor locks (doors not keyed to same lock as trunk…comes with keys for both)
oWindows roll up and down (regulators work)
oHeadlamps (high and low beam)
oTaillights (running and brakes)
·Floor/trunk plans are very clean and virtually rust free
·Obvious car has been in Texas all or most of its life
·Fairly new interior (seat covers, door panels, headliner, dash pad, etc.)
·Some new weather-stripping but could use new seal around trunk, possible others
·Car handles really well—believe body bushings were replaced at one time---NOT a car that attempts to continue straight after you turn
·Has power steering and front disk brakes (not power brakes) – They stop the car well and they are responsive
·All glass is good with no cracks or major imperfections
The Bad:
·Leaks some oil/transmission fluid
·Gas gauge may not be accurate… full is “past where full typically should be”
·Dome light does not work…never bothered to install bulb and test/diagnose
·Hazard lights do not work-button on column is missing (turn signals do work)
·Tires older but have significant tread
·Spare has a leak
·Missing factory jack and factory manual
·Speedometer works (shows speed) but I believe it is not calibrated correctly (faster than actually traveling?)
·Shows wear expected with a nearly fifty-year-old car
·Quarter/rear windows roll up and down but they easily “jump off track” if you mess with them too much
·Radio bezel cut to make room for aftermarket radio (…very common)
·Clear coat peeling in places. We get compliments everywhere we go but paint is more of a driver than a show car.
·Intermittent whining noise (not consistent) at high speed.. have ideas on it but haven’t diagnosed it yet
·Motor obviously not original (assume transmission is not)
·No air conditioner (blower motor works but heater core “case/cover” under glovebox is damaged…believe this reduces heater air flow
·Body shows some hail damage and I suspect the quarters have a little bondo in them
I would drive this car in the DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) area without hesitation. We take the Malibu out at least once a week and I have no concerns driving my family around town in it.If I were going farther, I would want to use a trailer.I do not have to sell it… I have my eye on another project and I am testing the waters. My plan is to go with a LS motor and a six speed transmission, air conditioner, etc. We simply enjoyed it too much to tear into it.
Disclaimers: I am a private seller with a passion for old cars.I am not a professional mechanic and I’ve described the Malibu to the best of my ability.Seller will show car by appointment and buyer is welcome to have their mechanic meet me for inspection of the vehicle. All inspections of vehicle must occur BEFORE buyer bids on vehicle and will occur at mutually agreeable time/location.There is no warranty with this vehicle, either expressed or implied.Seller prefers local pickup and cash as payment medium but seller will work with buyers shipping agent to facilitate vehicle transport.Buyer is responsible for ALL shipping charges associated with vehicle. Vehicle is for sale locally, meaning seller can end auction at any time.Seller will NOT release vehicle to shipping company until all funds are in hand and they have cleared. Once funds have cleared and vehicle is ready for shipping company pickup, I will send title to seller via fedex to avoid sending title with vehicle shipping company. If you are not local and send a cashier’s check, I will not release vehicle until my bank tells me check has cleared and funds are available. PayPal is only an acceptable form of payment for the $500 non-refundable deposit, which is due within twenty-four hours of auction close. The PayPal fees are simply too high to accept a credit card payment for the balance.Payment is due within fourteen days of auction close and vehicle must be picked up within twenty-one days of auction close. If the buyer requires additional time to pick up vehicle, alternative arrangements may be made but they must be agreed upon prior to bidding.Buyer should ask all questions prior to bidding.Check my feedback…I try to write detailed descriptions and I’ve sold a two or three antique cars over the last ten years via eBay. Bid once and bid often... I've had a number of people ask me about selling it and the timing simply wasn't right. Buyer agrees to terms set forth in this listing by placing a bid on this auction.
