Description

A real-deal 1966 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport convertible is a wonderful thing. But when it's restored in great original colors, has the original big block under the hood, and even has four-on-the-floor, well then, you know you're looking at something special. Oh, and did we mention the best upgrades like A/C and front wheel disc brakes yet? The Madeira Maroon paint is factory correct, but it benefits from a more modern professional respray so that the modern clearcoat... shines bright on this sunshine-friendly droptop. It's part of a full restoration performed in 2012. The Impala was the premium Chevy, and so it's highlighted by the crisp lines that have same timeless appeal as a crisp Brooks Brother's shirt. But more than just color and metal, even the details are correct - the folding roof fits snugly; the trim is bright and complete; the GM-branded wire wheel covers are in place; and the doors hang with the crispness not seen in many convertibles of this era. The wide chrome grille up front is like an extension of the mirror-like bumper. And in the rear, the bumper has a terrific fit as it integrates into the sheetmetal. So the overall effect of this one is a classic that looks smart with its top up or down. When you take down the power folding roof, the same attraction remains, because the whole interior has a crisp black appearance. There was $1,800 invested here during the restoration, and so you get all the right details. People will love to point out the little things, like how the button-top door panels coordinate with the button-top seats. And more than just appearance, there's plenty of comfort, too. A Super Sport of this era means bucket seats and a center console. So while there's plenty of room in the back for family and friends, you'll always be riding in individual comfort. In fact, the driver gets the best treats as you slip behind the factory wheel with Impala center cap and gaze over the speedometer that's as wide as the horizon. Even the details prove this is true driver machine - from the addition of auxiliary gauges, to the very handy factory tach. And there's modern R134a air conditioning to make sure you stay cool all year long while cruising with the top down. Open the hood to reveal the original big block nestled in a terrific engine bay. With the gloss black inner fenders, bold block, shining valve covers, and matching air topper, this presentation is award-worthy all on its own. And once again, they really sweated the details. So you get all the right decals, Delco battery topper, and the correct GM washer refill bottle mounted on the fender. The numbers-matching 396 cubic-inch V8 was rebuilt during the time of the restoration, so this drives as fresh as it looks. In fact, this one is meant to be a terrific driver. The original Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission gives you full control over the big block and its growling dual exhaust. And as you look at the undercarriage photos, you'll not only see an investment in freshness, but also a terrific upgrade to front wheel disc brakes. Add in power steering, and you soon realize you may never leave the road long enough to show this one off! A convertible this special needs the right paperwork to back it up. So the sale come with the factory buildsheet, owner's manual, title documentation, maintenance records, and restoration receipts. This Impala offers everything you want in a vintage full-size droptop, and it has all the right upgrades to give you modern comfort, too. All-around terrific classics like this don't come along very often. Call today!!!
