Garage Find 1966 Impala
Original Washington state car. 95,xxx actual miles. Fully driveable and roadworthy. Just drove it 100 miles around town over a weekend. Clean body with minor rust on rear wheel opening lip, bottoms of front fenders at doglegs, & one spot on lower left corner of driver’s door. Was in slight fender bender on driver rear quarter; has been hammered out & straightened. Was sprayed with correct primer & left like that, ready for blocking. Rattle can burgundy that somewhat matches the body color was sprayed over the primer. A front fender was replaced at some point in the past. You can see blue under the burgundy. Body has minor nicks & dings. Exterior chrome & stainless is the same. All glass is good & original except windshield was replaced at some point. Frame is excellent – no rust. Floors & trunk pan are the same. Interior is very nice with everything original except bucket seats replaced the original bench seat, radio is aftermarket AM/FM, & newer carpet. Sun tach mounted on steering column. Engine is 468 cubic inch with Corvette tripower making approximately 500 horsepower. It has 10.5:1 compression & runs very well on premium unleaded. It runs even better on leaded racing gas. Rebuilt Turbo 400 transmission with floor shifter, and rebuilt 3:73 twelve bolt posi rearend. F41 components have been added to the rearend. Drive train has approximately 5000 miles on it. Exhaust is good/like new except mufflers could stand to be replaced. Tires are very good, with 5” wide skinnies on the front & big 10” wide meats on the rear. 15X8 ralleys on the rear & 15X5 on the front. Trunk floor has black carpet glued to it. Car has the correct 1966 bumper jack & a full size spare.
Thing it needs: minor body work & paint, correct power steering hoses (what’s there isn’t correct, but they work), some wiring issues sorted out, mainly the rear lights(they don’t all work), mufflers. I think a new rear harness would correct it. I have additional parts I’ll sell separately to the buyer of the car, including: factory in dash tach 7000 rpm, 1968 automatic floor console with horseshoe shifter & linkage, floor shift column, NOS floor shift tilt column, NOS simulated wood steering wheel, hub, & horn button, Caprice seat belts, NOS exterior rear view mirrors. Clear clean title.
Car is also listed on Claz.org and there is additional info in that listing.
