1980 CHEVROLET K10 4X4 STEP SIDE SHORT BED CHEVY SQUARE BODY PICKUP TRUCK! V8
Description
1980 Chevrolet Step side short box 4x4
This is a solid chevy pickup with little rust compared to most '73-'80 square bodies. The motor runs nice. 4-speed. These pickups look great fixed up. This is a good one to drive or restore. Below are all the details. This was a spokane county vehicle and was originally "county" yellow. The previous owner had it painted and put the V8 in it. Let me know if you'd want to do something early on it. Clear title and I have many more pics I can send. Thanks and happy bidding.
MECHANICAL
This chevy has a non-original V8. I was told it's a 350 but I have not checked the numbers. No smoke or knocks. No leaks of any concern. Runs cool. This truck has the HD suspension package. Gauges work. Lights, heater, wipers, etc. work. This has tires on it that aren't good. It had new tires on it when I got it but they looked too small so I put the 31's on it. Those are the ones in the pics and those come with it. The 4-speed tranny works fine and so does the transfer case. The truck drove nice with the new smaller tires that were on it. I haven't had it on the highway with the 31" tires. It may drive fine with them but they are worn out. Brakes work fine. Exhaust is dual, and sounds nice. Carb is a 2barrel and may needs replaced or rebuilt. It doesn't want to idle if not partially choked. I planned to take the 2barrel off anyways so I didn't care. 4barrels or injection system setups are cheap and easy to find. Transmission works as it should with no abnormalities. Same with the transfer case, clutch, and 4x4 stuff. This truck turns on a dime. I have a CCLB ford super duty and this stepside turns around in half the distance lol. Overall, very mechanically sound. I would personally just put a 4barrel setup on it and new tires and it should be ready for everyday use.
BODY
The body is in nice shape for a GM truck of this vintage. It has been painted once and any filler used is showing itself. both front fenders need replaced or patched. Passenger cab corner needs replaced. Passenger cab corner has a very small spot to patch. No rust in the box or rear fenders. Floors are nice. Rockers, jams, roof, hood, header, firewall, cowl, etc. look great. Doors are good, but one has rust in the skin that needs a patch. Cab mounts and floor supports are fine. Frame on the truck is fine. Salt is not an issue in this part of the country and the truck looks to have never been in a salt area. Paint is not good but I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive it. Looks ok cleaned up as you can see in the pics. Doors, hood and tailgate open as they should.
INTERIOR
The interior is in good usable condition for a driver. Not fancy, but usable. It doesn't smell bad. No hair or smoke smell. Tilt steering column. Interior restoration of these trucks is cheap and easy, if you want to restore it. It had a new seat cover but the sun has damaged it. Has a newer carpet. Dash and gauge panel have not been cut for a stereo, which is good. There no radio in it. Seat is comfortable and was recovered at one point, but has wear on the seat area. I have more interior pics also.
OVERALL
This is a good truck to just use as-is or restore. I'm sure you could patch the fenders and spot-paint it good enough to run around. It is a great candidate for restoration. It's tight and solid for a gm truck of the 73-87 era. I've had many and they sometimes have been rode hard and have all the rattles to show for it. Thanks for looking. This vintage chevy is sold as-is.
