Description

Don Yenko enjoyed building just a precious few of some of the most potent Chevrolets ever at his dealership in Pennsylvania. Originals have become extremely high dollar collectibles that people are afraid to actually drive, so are mostly found sitting in museums. Check out this tribute to the Yenko Nova that you can actually take out and play with. Show it off. Make a couple runs at the local track. Have some fun with it. There is... no mistaking a Yenko Super Car. This car is presented in a classic hot rod combination of Red with Black stripes. The sYc logo graces the front of the cowl induction hood in a triangle with a double stripe extending back and up the power bulge to the cowl. A simple chrome grill of horizontal bars has a Chevrolet bowtie in the center of the polished trim and is underlined by a sharp looking chrome bumper. From the side the car has some chassis rake to it and staggered tire sizing that is a pretty clear indication of this cars intended mission. A triple black stripe runs down the side of the car with Yenko/SC appearing in script on the rear fender. The rear of the car looks super clean as the roofline tapers down over the trunk smoothly with the panel between the taillights echoing the look of the grill with horizontal bars and a red, white and blue Yeko badge underlined by another fresh bumper. Open the door and you will find a neat and clean interior that is a combination of comfortable street car with some office equipment meant for attending to some quick business from time to time. The door panel is street car classy in black with horizontal pleating with a band of polished trim and a nice wood tone panel across the top. Inside you will find a two spoke steering wheel with an Auto Gauge tach mounted front and center on the steering column. There is a stock dash and gauges that is supplemented by a Sunpro gauge cluster to keep accurate track of oil pressure, water temperature and battery charging rate. The carpets are protected by Chevy bowtie floor mats and a serious looking B&M shifter sits in the floor which controls the 3-speed automatic transmission. The split bench seat has been nicely reupholstered and has the sYc logo on the headrests. Now pop the hood and check out what makes this car a serious tribute. It's an age-old formula. Drop a big powerful engine in a small, lightweight car. Power to weight ratio matters on the strip and that's what makes the Nova such a force to be reckoned with. Yenko was fond of the 427s back in the day, and this one is presented as such with a polished air cleaner with the 427 Turbo Jet decal. But it is really a 454-powerhouse nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and a Weiand Air Gap intake manifold feeding it. Chrome valve covers are embossed with Moroso in script and have a red, white and blue Yenko decal on them. Hedman headers get the spent gasses out and headed back to Flowmaster mufflers and an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans keeps the engine running cool. The rubber meets the road through 235/70R15 tires in the rear and 165/80R15s on the front mounted on Weld Racing wheels. A strong running and sweet looking Yenko Nova tribute that you can take downtown or down the strip. Come on down and check it out.
