1971 Chevelle - True Survivor - All Original Car
Description
A real SURVIVOR !!! I found this car sitting in a garage in Oklahoma - covered with boxes and the inside packed with old clothes. It had been parked around 1992 due to a bad ignition switch and never driven again. Once unpacked, we poured some fuel in the carb, dropped in a new battery and it fired right up!! Sat for 26 years and ran again!!
It has since been completely gone through, replacing or repairing any broken or non-working items - one ball joint, plugs, wires, etc. The AC was converted to 134A and it blows cold now. Interior was shot but there was no evidence of mice, no wire cut or eaten though, just really bad interior, so some cheap seat covers were thrown on, and a new set of carpet I happened to have was dropped in. Gave it a new set of tires and replaced the 7" steel wheels and hubcaps with Rallye wheels and new tires. Vinyl top was gone, so we sanded it down, smoothed out a couple small dents and painted the top satin black for now.
Everything works on this car - everything. It runs great, drives smoothly and idles great. I have used it as my everyday car for several weeks to find any weak spots, with no problems at all - it's a really great example of a smooth running dependable old car. Drove it in the rain today to pick up kids from school and run errands - wipers and defrost work great.
The engine is a 350, 4 barrel carb - all stock, nothing modified at all. Trans is stock 350 automatic. Rearend is an open 10bolt. There has not been anything modified except the 134A conversion adapters added!!!
BEST PART: The floors are absolutely solid, truck is the same - no rust, frame is great. The only rust on this car is a couple inches on each of the rear wheel wells towards the back - see pics. That's it. Rear window and front windshield were pulled and resealed - no rust there either. Car has a few small dents and dings, but all the original sheetmetal can easily be smoothed and repainted if you want - or drive it like it is and don't worry about it at all.
I bought the car with the intention of selling it when ready, and now is the time. Please ask any questions before bidding.
