Description

This big window short box fleetside 58 was purchased by the previos owners father in 1968. He put a camper shell on the back and took his family camping with it. It was stored in a garage or later in life, thier barn for most of it's life. Because of the camper shell, the bed is in really nice shape. its straight and not much more than surface rust. I'm gonna guess the wood in the bed is original with a couple layers of laquer on it. It didnt come with a tailgate, as the camper shells door eliminated the need for it. LMC has em for 500 bucks. The cab has typical rust but not too terrible, as can be seen in my photos. the doors have been repaired before and are the worst of the rust issues, the cab corners have typical rust too, but cant reall be seen with a fleetside bed. there was a hole cut for a speaker above the windsheild. if I had the speker grill it would be filling that hole, but it is long gone. ther is also a nickle size hole in the roof and headliner, where the guy had a CB antannae, Im guessing. nothing was there when I got the truck. It has vintage air conditioning under the dash. The AC blows and seems like it would work, if it was recharged. All the lights work...turn signal, tail lights, brake lights, headlights, high beams, dash lights, high beam indicator, interior cab light. all the gauges work wxcpt for the tempature senor gauge, it doesnt want to do anything. Maybe its just a temp sending unit. the gas gauge works. there is an auxillary gas tank under the bed, its gauge seems to work, but I've never added any amount of gas to see it move higher than just off empty. the fue ltank selector valve is in the footboard step areaunder the driver, it is the same as one I had in a 72 GMC with factory aux tanks, so imgonna guess he got it from the chevy dealer in the late 60's early 70's. the visor is in great shape and the lady told me her dad searched for year for it and it was the last piece he was looking for. The truck seems to have been repainted twice. originally it was gold or it also could have been a 50th anniversary truck that was gold on top and Ivory on the bottom (opposite of how the guy had this one repainted).. the interior is Ivory with a gold dash. You can see the gab was originally gold from in between the bed. that is why I beleive it to be that anniversay paint model. I have owned an anniversay paint 58 before and they are identicle in look and accessories from the factory. It was later painted a tan color, s can be seen inside the bed. then it was finally painted a beige and Ivory with the camper shell on. the motor is a 261 inline 6. it is very strong and has headers and glasspaks (exhaust needs attention, rust and holes). It doesnt smoke and starts right up, very clean motor with original accessories. It has a 4 speed transmission in it, that I dont think is original to the truck. It has a posi track rear end in it, that can layleft and rightblack tire burnouts. This truck can cruise at 75MPH with plenty more power. great start for a restoration, or a great daily driver. I have driven this truck daily for the last month or so and taken it out of town and on the interstae with no issues, or even worry about issues. ask any Q's you have. thanks.
