1972 Chevrolet K10 4x4 truck. E-Bay software does not show K10 in the list, but does show 1500 so this is the closest item number.
Good condition for a daily or weekend truck. This truck came nicely equipped for this era.I’ve owned this truck for almost a year and only selling it because I bought a different truck for sentimental reasons.
Over the past 35 years, I have owned about ten 1967 – 1972 trucks and Blazers.A couple of them had lots of rust, one was a 100% frame off flawless restoration, and the others between the two conditions. All of them have been dependable. The restoration was so nice I was watchful if someone walked too close to it.The most enjoyable trucks for me have been the daily or weekend drivers. This truck fits the top-end of my more enjoyable trucks. The odometer reads around 11k miles so I assume it is 111k.
This truck has a strong power-train from the factory; 350 engine, TH350 transmission, NP205 transfer case, 12 bolt rear axle, and Dana 44 front axle.
The notable from the GM factory are as follows (rare to find these options as a package):
- - Air conditioning
- - 350 engine
- - Automatic transmission
- - Custom Deluxe package
- - Chrome bumpers
- - Gauge package
- - Power steering
- - Power brakes
THE GOOD
People call this type of condition a “survivor”Nothing major done to it that can’t be easily undone.
The engine has been rebuilt and has a RV cam for torque. The engine runs strong and sounds good.
All the drive-train is solid and smooth.
The bodywork for exterior has been done; e.g. rocker panels and repaired the rusted areas.Exterior looks good.
Seat is one of the best quality I have seen.
Bed liner.
Tailgate operates good.
New rear bumper, circa 2017.
New grill, circa 2017.
New alternator, 2017.
New belts August, 2018.
Flushed power steering August, 2018.
New dual exhaust May, 2018.
Changed oil on October 20, 2018.
New headlights October, 2018.
33 x 12.5 – 15 BF Goodrich All Terrain tires on 15 x 10” chrome modular wheels.Average tread depth is 11/32 inch.See tire tread depth photo.
Chrome in good condition.
THE NOT SO GOOD
The windshield washer pump does not work.Worked a few times and stopped—seems to be an intermittent problem.
The truck has rust in the typical places for a Southern truck; cab supports at floorboard, inside of rocker panel, and inside front fender wells. Not enough rust for major concerns or structural integrity.
Engine valve cover on driver’s side leaks.
The transmission kick-down cable not connected to carburetor.Never bothered me enough to connect it because I drive it like an old man.
Speedometer is off by about 5 MPH due to 33” tires around 55 MPH.When speedometer reads 55 MPH, traveling around 60 MPH.Adapter to increase speedometer cable speed are readily available and inexpensive.
No air conditioning compressor. It was removed before I bought the truck.Heater works good.
Reverse lights to do not work so I installed a switch with new LED lights.I did not troubleshoot the problem because I think almost all backup lights are too dim so I installed bright lights.
Typical play in steering wheel.Steering box does not appear to be rebuilt. This is typical for a truck with around 100k miles.
Temperature gauge not connected.I think it needs a new wire to sensor.
Emergency brake does not work.I did not troubleshoot it.I keep truck in garage and transmission is solid.
No radio.Came from factory with an AM radio.
A side note, from the past 35 years of having these trucks, in the past few years, the amount of attention they get from people has increased exponential. It is common, nearly every time I drive it, for people to come up to me and ask to sell it, ask to see it inside, or share one of their favorite stories that has one of these trucks in it.I didn’t buy the truck for this reason, but it is attention getter.
Keep in mind this truck is 47 years old without a restoration so please bring reasonable expectations.Feel free to bring your mechanic with you to inspect/drive it.If you are further than typical driving distance and want a third-party inspection, he/she will have full access to truck.Compare other prices and conditions and it will show this truck is a good value. No low-ball offers will be considered. Not interested in trades.
I have the truck listed locally and reserve the right to end E-Bay ad if truck is sold local. $1000 deposit immediately upon sale, then remaining balance within 72 hours. PayPal recommended or cash in my hand.
