Description

It's a top tier representative of Chevy's line of mid-'50s cruisers that would go on to become among the most beloved of all classics. This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air restomod features a high impact, aggressive exterior, commanding big block power under its hood and some very welcome comfort and convenience features for an exhilarating experience behind the wheel. Its black exterior provides a great aggressive look while representing an inspired departure from the two-tone color schemes most often seen on the model. This Bel Air is an unquestionable head turner - with nothing but black and chrome on display, it really stands out in a crowd. There's just so much style on display here - the combination of the beefy front bumper, intricate grille, unmistakable Chevy emblem and signature hood ornament draws you right in. It's pretty easy to see how the Chevys of this era became so strongly linked with car culture just by virtue of their looks alone. The paint itself still has a nice shine to it, and the trim and bright work are in good condition, with no glaring dings or divots, which really maximizes the visual impact of this coveted cruiser. The passing of the decades finds it in very solid shape - it was originally restored about a decade ago, and then received a very thorough refreshening recently and it very much looks the part. The interior is in good shape, with bench seating in both front and back that's plushly-padded and plenty comfortable for even the longest of road trips. Below, the matching carpeting looks nearly new and sits over a layer of Dynamat to shield the interior from road noise and heat. The door panels to each side sit snugly against their frames and feature fresh-looking, unpitted handles, of which the window cranks now operate power windows. The protective seals surrounding the doors have been painted to match the interior - an inspired finishing touch. A very sharp-looking billet steering wheel sits on its chrome tilt column, while just beyond it is a very clean, diamond shaped instrument panel that houses a collection of white-faced AutoMeter gauges. A recently added Vintage Air climate control system keeps things cool inside, while a retro-styled AM/FM stereo with iPod connectivity attends to your audio desires. The trunk area is nicely detailed, with a fresh rubber liner covering its floor. Lift the hood and you'll see an engine compartment you won't want to look away from. At its center sits a freshly rebuilt 454 cubic inch V8 that's been equipped with a hydraulic roller cam and lifter and wears a Holley 870 carb on top. It's good for a full 468 horsepower and sounds great through its Sanderson headers as it pairs with a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. There is a lot of eye candy on display inside as well. A polished power steering pump, fuel pump and alternator, as well as a nicely detailed chrome master cylinder complement the engine's chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Up front, an aluminum radiator with dual fans stands by to keep operating temperatures in check. This classic provides a thrilling driving experience in all respects - in addition to its straight ahead power, a Heidts tubular front end, with front/rear coilover shocks and airbags in back provide provide a comfortable ride, while power steering and power disc brakes make navigating and stopping nice and easy. A custom built 29 gallon aluminum fuel tank makes this unusually well configured vintage Chevy the ultimate road trip chariot, as it cruises on its American Racing Torq Thrust wheels, 18" in front and 20" in back for an aggressive, inclined stance, that are wrapped with Michelin tires. The combination of timeless style, brute strength and well-chosen components puts this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air restomod in extremely rare company. Call today!
