1961 Chevrolet Impala Bubbletop Coupe 1961 Bubbletop Used Automatic
Description
After 25 years in a relationship with one person, this car is back on the dating scene looking for someone new to cruise with. It has a timeless sense of style, is smartly dressed, and has kept itself in great shape through all those years so is ready to get fired up to go rock and roll with someone new. Might that be you? Depending on your point of view, this car is wearing either a black evening gown or a black tux. Either way, it looks great in the clean lines the designers cut into its sheet metal and the distinctive look of the wraparound rear window. Referred to as a bubble top, it is rare and very desirable, only available on sport coupes for a few years. Up front, quad headlights framing an eggcrate grill are underlined by a bumper that continues the wraparound theme. A "spear" of chrome trim starts on the front fender adding a sporty look down the side with an Impala badge within its lines on the rear fender. But the most dramatic lines of this car can be viewed from the rear. The chrome of the spears on each side flow up to meet the top edge of the trunk, then bend down forming a V between an iconic set of triple taillights. It's a look found only on a '61. A simple, straight, clean looking bumper underlines the dramatic sheet metal enhancing the look even further. Open the door and you will find that high style from the 1960s continues in the interior. The door panel is a work of art in red, silver and chrome. The bench seats both front and rear are beautiful upholstered in Red cloth for the seating surface and trimmed with White and Red vinyl. The 2-spoke steering wheel is a dramatic design in two-tone red and white with an Impala badge in the center of its stylized spokes. The dash is neat and clean with a horizontal speedometer underlined by the engine gauges set into a polished aluminum panel with pull knobs and vent controls in a row below it. An AM radio still rests in its original place, but below it, hiding behind the polished aluminum glove box door is a newer radio for your listening pleasure. Below that is a set of Sunpro auxiliary gauges to keep accurate tabs on water temp, voltage, and oil pressure. Open the hood and you will find a healthy 350 cubic inch V8 nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It started life as a 1969 Corvette block which was built up with the addition of a Holley carburetor and aluminum intake. Those are topped by a polished chrome air filter housing and the engine is dressed up with chrome valve covers embossed with Chevrolet Power. Power flows back through a TH400 3-speed trans and Flowmaster mufflers give this car a really nice exhaust tone. Signs of good regular maintenance are evident in the condition of the belts and hoses as well as the cleanliness and condition of the chassis components. A '67 Impala power steering box is one upgrade and a sway bar up front as well as heavy duty shocks all around help the car handle as good as it looks. The rubber meets the road through 251/75R14 white wall tires mounted on steel wheels with center spin hub caps. Stylish, smartly dressed, and ready to roll. What are you waiting for? Call the showroom and set a date to come on down and meet this sweet ride.
