1980 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Coupe 1980 Z/28 Used Automatic
Description
The second-generation Camaros earned a reputation as a driver's car. They benefitted from the success of the first-gen cars because the best engineers were assigned to further its development. The result was a car that was substantially lower and wider. Then for the Z28s, they loaded it up with the best performance goodies and the styling crew dressed it out nicely. Long, low and wide cars are going to look good in a glossy black paint job all day, every day. This Camaro more-so than most, because it leads with a body colored front bumper and blacked out grill. A chin spoiler reaches for the ground and wraps around to the front wheel wells. That long black hood has a functional Air Induction scoop on it that opens to allow cold air in to the engine under full throttle acceleration, and for 1980, the extraction scoops on the sides of the fenders also became functional allowing hot air to escape. Tinted T-tops are the best of all worlds, hardtop, sunroof, no roof. A steeply sloping wraparound rear window continues the sleek body lines nicely, gives great visibility, and provides plenty of room to mount killer speakers in the back shelf. The trunk has a that killer Z28 spoiler and the body colored back bumper has a couple chrome exhaust tips peeking out from underneath. This sharp looking silver interior is one of the reasons this is known as a driver's car in addition to the improvements to the chassis. There is a long comfortable armrest on the door panel that compliments the one on the center console for those long cruises you will be want to take in this car. High back bucket seats are comfortable but also supportive for spirited driving. A four-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column and feels good in your hands with its unique wound grip. New for 1980 was a federally mandated 85 MPH speedometer that is kind of funny given the performance capabilities of this car, along with the other gauges that let you keep tabs on engine functions. A Pioneer head unit pumps sound out through those speakers in the back shelf for your listening pleasure and the shifter for the automatic is in the console just below it. Pop the hood on this Z and you will find a powerful and reliable 350 V8. It is helped along with the cold air intake system in the hood and filters that air through an Edelbrock air filter assembly. The rest of the engine compartment is neat and clean and stock with signs of regular maintenance. The power it makes is sent back through a 3-speed automatic to a solid rear end that is sitting on new multi-leaf springs along with a sway bar to help keep the car flat during hard cornering. Up front, control arms with coil springs along with heavy duty shocks handle the bumps, and another beefy sway bar keeps the handling balanced with the back on the twisty roads. Power front disc brakes provide great stopping power, and the rubber meets the road through Z28 Rally wheels with 225/60R15 tires all around. Come on down and check out this great looking Z28. It's a driver's car. And you might just decide that you need to drive it home.
