Description

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this outstanding 1969 Camaro Custom build. This Camaro was sold new at Bill Barnett Chevrolet of Compton California and remained in California until acquired by an collector from Michigan 14 years ago. He was an avid car enthusiast and a plain old speed freak who loves to build high quality, fast cars that were equally set up for proper handling, drivability and braking. This 1969 Camaro ZL-1 tribute is a testament to his... attention to performance as well as detail. The motor was found at a mid-Michigan dealership service department as a complete unit. The motor and heads were completely disassembled evaluated prepped for a precision build. The heads are an authentic matching set of 3946074 L-88 heads that have been professionally match ported to the intake manifold, polished and fitted with all new correct valves and valve springs etc. This process has been photo documented. The L-88 aluminum intake was also polished and match ported to the heads, to say the least, this car breathes as it is fed by a Holly 750 CFM dual feed carb. The Aluminum block was built with NOS L-88 crank and rotating assembly and the whole motor was a high performance precision build and fully balanced and blueprinted. (It is also interesting to note that when found, the motor had been sitting in a back room of a Chevy dealer. It is said that the Motor had been sitting in the same spot for nearly 40 years. The motor was assembled and all the markings on the motor are left as found. The numbers: ZL 194379S703387 and stamped on each head, front engine block pad and on the bottom of the block on the oil pan flange. The number appears to be a 1969 Corvette VIN number. The motor is said to deliver 600 horsepower at crank. All these horses are transferred via a fortified GM Turbo 400 transmission with 3500 stall converter, and applied by a 12 bolt posi-traction rear end with strange axles and 3.73 gears. The cosmetics, bodywork and appearance of this 69 ZL1 tribute is absolutely outstanding in every way!! The California body was completely stripped to bare metal and all sheet metal remains Factory original or NOS. A complete nut and bolt, rotisserie restoration was then performed. The fit and finish is amazing, the attention to detail is second to none and the Hugger Orange exterior paint was accented with a splash of pearl effect and is stunning. Other highlights include: All new suspension, power steering, power brakes, MSD ignition, Rally Style Wheels, COPO / ZL 1 Look, auxiliary compressor to make vacuum, Autometer gauges, headers, off road style exhaust, Traction Bars, frame connectors, sport steering wheel, B&M shifter, tilt steering wheel, Astro Ventilation, Be Cool Aluminum radiator, electric cooling fans, front and rear sway bars, all stainless steel fuel and brakes lines, and more. The performance of this Camaro is amazing. It roars to life at the tweak of the key, the performance cam ensures a healthy rumpity rump at idle, the throttle response is instant and the professionally prepared ZL1 motor roars as it powers through the gears while pinning your ears to the back of the seat. The set up of this Camaro is second to none as the car tracks extremely straight under load as well as behaving in all street driving situations. If you are looking for an extreme quality, exciting car, then look no further than this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 tribute car. It has all the right pieces and all the right moves. This car is offered at less than half the cost to build it and is an opportunity for any speed freak with the means to buy it. Documentation includes: The original protect-o-plate, a cd with the documenting the heads rebuilding process.
