Not many cars are as iconic and easily recognizable as the 1957 Bel Air. This example is well-documented, and was part of the Volo Museum Collection from 1997 until it was sold in 2002. The new owner drove and enjoyed it until 2009, when he sold it to a gentleman who affected a $30,000 upgrade and repaint to the car, which is fully documented in receipts and paperwork. It was appraised for the insurance company in 2012 in a partially finished condition, and then was sold as an unfinished project due to the seller’s health. The next owner spent 2012 to 2013 finishing it up, and adding some touches of his own. He drove it for about 950 miles to local shows and events, and reluctantly parted with it in a package of vehicles to downsize his collection. The car now has 1169 miles on it, and still shows fresh and new. The Butternut Yellow finish on the car is in exceptional condition, and shows little to no signs of any use or wear. There are less than 10 total marks from normal use and existence, like stone chips and small scuffs, on the exterior of the car. You can see all 10 in the 250 large photos below. Most have been touched up with correct touch-up paint, but they do exist. Keep in mind, this car has NOT been formally detailed by us, only washed, wiped down with detail spray, and photographed by an iPhone 6s without any editing. If you get your favorite cleaners out and go over the car from front to back, it will only look better than it already does. According to all the accompanying documents and receipts, over $15,000 was spent on making sure every panel was straight as an arrow, the least amount of filler was utilized, and everything from prep work to final finish sanding and buffing was done to the highest level. Running a 1”square magnet all over the car shows NO SIGN of any mud panels, and it will stick like glue everywhere you put it. The body was separated from the frame during the restoration and build, and both the chassis and body were media blasted to bare metal before finishing. The frame was refinished and had all nuts, bolts replaced with stainless. All of the brake and fuel lines were redone. New poly frame bushings were installed with all-new hardware. A modified FORD 9” rear end was installed and fit with 4.11 gears, new sway bar, and Cal-Trac adjustable lower control arms. The transmission is a Muncie 4-speed M-22 Rock Crusher, and was sent to Davids4Speeds to be completely rebuilt and resealed, including a Torque-Lok slider, Competition Gaskets, and 2.20 ratio. Front suspension was treated to a new power rack & pinion steering system, tubular upper and lower control arms from CPP, and sway bars. 4-wheel power disc brakes are all new, and have a chrome master cylinder and booster as well. The engine was custom built for the application, and consists of a 350ci motor that has a dyno proven 425hp and is as reliable and easy to drive as you could want. Patriot Aluminum Heads, Edelbrock aluminum intake, Edelbrock 4251 carbueretor, billet pulley system, billet water pump, chrome alternator, Be Cool radiator, Optima battery, MSD 6AL distributor, Blaster coil, Hi-Po ignition wires, and MSD control box work to keep things running smoothly. Custom made ceramic coated headers with welded 3” aluminum pipes are heat wrapped and lead back to the Dynomax mufflers with Flomaster chrome tips. It sounds very aggressive. Bumpers are show quality nickel plated units and look phenomenal. Bright work, trim, and emblems were either replaced with new or fully restored and replated before being put back on the car. They show amazingly well. Aftermarket stainless hood springs and new hinges were installed. All glass is brand new reproduction, and has a mild tint. It is flawless. All new weather stripping, seals, rubber, regulators, and fuzzies were installed. New 17” COY’S Torque Thrust style 5-spoke chrome rims look perfect on the car, and have only a mark or two between all four to show. You can see a close up of each rim in the 250 photos below that will show you how great they look. Tires BFGoodrich G-Force T/A radial tires, with 1169 miles on them They are damage and issue free, and are size 235/45R17 up front, and 255/50R17 in the rear. The inside of the car is like brand new, because it basically is brand new. Reproduction original style cloth and vinyl seats, door panels, kick panels, trim panels, sun visors, and headliner were installed and still show like new. No issues at all. Carpet is brand new, and a bit nicer than OEM spec for better wear and longevity. It shows like new. Heavy duty rubber mats are included for protection. Dash is like new, and glovebox is lined and opens and closes as it should. A Retro Autosound AM-FM-MP3 stereo looks old, but is brand new, and sounds fantastic through the billet screened front speaker and dual 5x7” rear speakers installed in the new rear package shelf. Hurst shifter with new boot, trim ring, and white cue ball looks new and shifts the Muncie M-22 perfectly. Interior lights work as they should, and have no known issues. Aftermarket oil pressure and water temp gauges work correctly to better monitor conditions. A steering wheel mounted tachometer works perfectly and looks like new. Dash board was restored with new billet trim and gauges. It looks and works perfectly. An iDidit tilt steering column looks great and works perfectly, and is topped with a custom steering wheel. The inside shows basically flawless wherever you look. It is one of the freshest interiors you will find, and has no issues to address. Trunk is exceptionally clean, and fully finished and trimmed. All of the lights, wipers, signals, horn, and other items on the car function as they should, and it has been fully safety inspected and serviced prior to being offered for sale. It starts, runs, drives, rides, and handles amazingly well, and feels like the freshly completed car it is. Ride is solid and sure, and it takes bumps easily with no rattles or jarring. Handling is very modern, thanks to the chassis set up, and the car has none of the wallowy feel of the original Bel Airs. Power steering is slop free, and feels exceptionally tight and responsive, and the power disc brakes scrub off speed quickly without any pulling or excess fade. The car lets you have fun with its 425hp, and is ready to leap off the line! You will have more fun than you ever should driving it in town, and when you get on the highway, you’ll love winding out the gears to maximum speeds! The car exhibits no issues of any kind. It does not leak or drip fluids. It doesn’t have any issues with performance, ride, or handling. It has no defects in any of the functional, electrical, or operating systems. It is perhaps one of the nicest Bel Airs you could ever want to find. That’s about all I can tell you, but I encourage questions and addition photo requests if it helps you make a decision.
