1978 Chevrolet Malibu roller
Description
The car for auction is a 1978 Chevrolet Malibu. As you know if your trying to buy one of these G bodies, they are rapidly growing in popularity and price as they are starting to replace the 69 Camaro‘s and the 1970 Chevelle as the choice builder car. The Chevelle and Camaro have skyrocketed out of everyone’s price range and with these Late 70’s Malibu’s availably at a reasonable price, they are the logical next best choice. This car is a perfect builder. It has very solid rockers, solid frame, (see pictures) all stock suspension and rear end (never cut up or hot ridden) and super solid floors with only a couple of pin prick holes you could barely get a small nail though under the brake petal. The window chrome comes with the car but has been removed so you can see the area around the windows as well as the nails that hold the clips for the chrome trim are nearly perfect on this car. The car has the drive shaft and the transmission cross member in the trunk. The car retains its original wiring, sweep style speedometer, factory AM radio and climate control adjusters as well as its factory glove box. The rear floor boards have already been covered in sound deadening material and the front is ready for it. The car has been fitted with era correct weld racing wheels with Cooper Cobra P275/60/R15’s on rear and 165/80/R15’s up front. The front has factory disc brakes and rear drum. The rear end is a factory 10 bolt. The car has both upper and lower rear seats but no front seats as most people want racing buckets not a factory style bench seat. The car has an after market fiberglass pin on 6 inch cowl hood. The front grill and structure are excellent and the bumpers are very usable while they still retain a nice appearance. The cars finish is a combination of gloss and flat primer over what I am guessing to be the original factory tan paint. Paint job down the road is probably gonna happen whoever buys it unless they want a more flat appearance. The motor and transmission were pulled several years ago and the car sat. When the owner went to get the car titled in Missouri he made the mistake of telling the DMV it had no motor or transmission so they issued a salvage title which was immediately converted to prior salvage title which means it is 50 state legal but some knuckle head at the DMV made an error. Bottom line, great builder car ready to go to new home and be turned into a show piece or a great race car!!! I may consider selling the car without the wheels and tires for a little cheaper price if you want to discuss that before bidding. Please let me know.
