Description

You can call this an RS/SS tribute if you like, but RS/SS/Xtreme tribute might be a better description. What really sets this car apart is a very special motor built by Tony Barker who spent much of his life as NASCARs head engine builder. You best make sure you're ready before you decide to cut this beast loose. Let's talk about the rest of the build first. The paint is Black Metallic, and it sure looks good....Long before the paint was applied, plenty of effort was put into making sure the panels were smooth and wrinkle free and that they lined up properly. The results are outstanding and are something best appreciated up close and in person. The RS front end is downright sinister looking with no badges in the grill, outlined by thin chrome piping, and underlined by a simple chrome bumper. There is a deep chin spoiler that reaches for the ground too with a pair of fog lights above it. Bold SS stripes run up the power bulge of the cowl induction hood, picking back up on the trunk and rear spoiler, while SS badges appear on the front fenders and the gas cap. Chrome trims out the wheel wells with chrome 20s tucked up inside them and a bold piece of stainless lines the rocker panels. Open the door and you will find a Black interior that is neat, clean and basically stock except for the addition of a couple auxiliary gauges to keep accurate track of the beast under the hood. The door panel has an embossed center section with splashes of chrome across the top and bottom of it as well as on the armrest and there is a Camaro badge in the center. The bucket seats have pleated center panels with smooth bolsters and there is a storage console between them. The steering wheel is a four-spoke Grant GT which you will want to have a good grip on when you drive this car. A stock dash houses the speedometer and basic gauges while VDO gauges are mounted under the ventilation controls and FM radio to keep accurate tabs on engine RPM, water temp, and oil pressure. A T-handle shifter for the automatic transmission is mounted in the center console and fresh black carpets and headliner tie the look together nicely. Pop the hood and you will find 468 cubic inches of rompin' stompin' torque and horsepower built by one of the most respected names in engine building. This engine isn't just about power though. The FITech fuel injection system works with the Edelbrock intake and aluminum BRODIX heads to provide good drivability on the street while an aluminum radiator with electric fans keeps everything running cool. Shorty headers wind their way out to a 3" exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers and the sounds it makes are awesome! Power flows back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels mounted on a fresh set of multi-leaf springs while control arms cradle a fresh set of springs up front too balancing out the chassis nicely. Front disc brakes assure that you can haul this car down from speed when you decide to let the horses run, and the rubber meets the road through 275/35R20s in the back and 245/45/R20s in the front mounted on chrome Torq Thrust wheels. An RS/SS/Xtreme tribute. Killer looks, awesome power. It just needs someone like you to take it out for some exercise every now and again. Come on down and check it out.
