1954 Chevrolet Bel Air , Bagged Patina air ride Kustom Rod Lowrider 54 Chevy
Description
Here's your chance to own my beloved 1954 Chevrolet Bel-Air.
It is a drivable project that I've had for eight years and have driven around town
in almost every summer. Its had a lot of work done to it but needs more.
If you are not able to do (or pay to have done) the work required to finish this
car please reconsider placing a bid. If you don't have the funds available to
purchase this car, DO NOT place a bid. Again, it is a project that needs some work.
It is being sold as-is without any warranties or guarantees. Full payment
is required within seven days of the auction's close. The buyer is responsible
for all shipping arrangements and costs.
About the car:
The front of the frame has an early 1980's Oldsmobile Cutlass sub-frame
grafted on giving it power steering and power disc brakes. The rear
frame section was given the same treatment so it has a factory 4-link
G-Body rearend with drum brakes. It has S-10 dropped spindles and brakes
up front and it can rest the frame on the ground with the flick of a switch.
There is no emergency brake.
The engine is a 260ci (4.3L) 2BBL V8 from a 1978 Oldsmobile that puts out a
ground pounding 110 horsepower. It runs smooth and quiet with no problems.
It smokes a bit on start-up after sitting for a while but runs fine and
has enough power to push the car around with all the other vehicles on the road.
Behind it is a 3-speed automatic TH200 transmission that works fine and shifts
smoothly.
The air ride suspension is powered by two electric Viair compressors and its all
mounted out of the way in the trunk. There are eight 1/2" electric valves wired
up to two (front & back) switches on the dash. The lines and fittings are all 1/2"
too so it raises and lowers fast. Needless to say it gets a lot of attention.
The body is as it appears, nothing hidden or covered with body filler. The front
valance behind the bumper is rusty (particularly on the left side), the hood ornament
is broken, and both fender bottoms have rust. The driver's side is a little worse.
The lower half of the driver's door skin has been repaired but was done improperly
with flat metal. That door drags a bit on the striker so it needs some attention.
The right side door is fine. The floor pans have been repaired/replaced and the
drive shaft tunnel, trunk floor, and wheel housings have been raised.
The rocker panels have some rust, more so on the left side.
There is a rust spot near the back glass and half of the tailpan has rotted away.
The glass is all old and is missing the left driver's door and left quarter glass.
Its flat glass and can easily be cut and replaced by any glass shop or bought online.
The windshield is foggy around the edges but has a new seal. It comes with an extra
rear back-glass. It needs all new weather stripping, window felts, etc.
The headlights, brake, and turn signals work and the car is a 12v system from an 80's
GM G-body car. None of the gauges are working. It has a horn but its not installed.
The seats are from an 80's Cutlass and are powered, but have never been hooked up.
It has an aftermarket MP3/AM/FM stereo under the dash.
Even though there aren't any shocks or a swaybar on the frontend it rides great.
The tires are radials that
have been turned into whitewalls. They're old but still have some life left in them.
There is no spare tire.
There are no seat belts and the back seat bottom isn't mounted to the floor. The
windshield wipers are not working. The gas tank is the stock one from 1954.
The radiator is I believe from 1950/60's Dodge and it keeps it cool without any
problems.
Included with the car is an original complete steering column. The one in it now
is fine but the wheel is kind of close to the driver's lap. I was going to install
a smaller diameter chain lowrider style wheel on it but never did. The automatic
trans shifter operates via the column.
The car also comes with (not pictured) the original back seat, the trim around the
windshield, one door panel, right side rocker trim, and a small box of some things
such as window cranks, cigaret lighter, etc.
Its ready for someone to finish it up and have one of the coolest rides around. Feel
free to contact me with any questions or come take a look at it in person. The title
is clean and clear in my name.
