1968 Corvette Coupe 327 350HP L79 9900 Original Mile Survivor
Description
You are considering a extremely original 1968 corvette coupe with 9960 Original miles. This car was recently found sitting on blocks since 1973 in the garage of the 2nd owner in western Michigan. The 2nd owner put it on blocks to do a brake job and never got around to finishing it. He would periodically start the car every year or two to keep driveline free. This 1968 Corvette was factory delivered Rally Red with a Black Leather interior. It is highly optioned with the L79 327 350HP engine, M21 close ratio Muncie transmission, 3:70 positraction rear axle, Off road Exhaust, Transistor Ignition, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Windows, AM-FM radio, and Speed Warning. This corvette is so correct it can be used as a learning example of how these cars were built when restoring one. After gently cleaning and servicing it scored a 98.9 at a recent NCRS judging event. I strongly believe this corvette will Bloomington Gold Benchmark and be at least a 4 star NCRS Bowtie candidate. The only items replaced were the exhaust, 4 calipers, 4 brake hoses for safety, 4 driving tires, and the battery. The original matching number engine and transmission have never been removed or tampered with. This car runs and drives like a 10k mile car! The body has never been damaged and the original lacquer paint is in very good condition with no typical checking. The Interior is all original including carpet. The chassis is rock solid with light surface rust and areas of the original black coatings. No aftermarket undercoating. Everything works including the clock, radio and washer squirters! This corvette still retains its original fan belts, dated ignition wires, carburetor, starter, alternator, smog system, shock absorbers, jack and handle, spare tire, radiator, seat belts, window glass, and exhaust tips. Original GM paperwork consists of: Legible "Tank Sticker" Order Copy, Protect o Plate Warranty Book, Owners manual, radio sheet, FM card, over-ride control instruction tag, and Air Pollution pamphlet. The NCRS judging sheets and certificate are included. It was purchased new by a GM Employee L.H. Klaasen, Grosse Point Michigan on 2-29-68 delivered thru Ed Rinke Chevrolet. His name is on the tank sticker. We also have a letter from GM for a carburetor warranty notification, a campaign card and a Insurance card with his info on them. The second owner was his neighbor who acquired the car from him within 6 months of new. If you are looking for a blue chip quality collector car that you would enjoy judging events this car is prepared and ready. All inspections welcome.
