Chevy only made Nova convertibles in 1962 and 1963. 1963 was the only year of the Nova SS convertible. They also had a dealer option where you could order your Nova from the factory which came with either a four or six cylinder, but the dealer had an option to replace the four or six cylinder with either a 283 or 327 eight cylinder engine. This is a replica of a 327 dealer option. The engine is as period correct as you would find. The date code on the engine block is the same week as the build date of the car.
The car went through an extensive rebuild 2008-2011 and has been driven very little since. (Occasional car shows and cruise nights.)
The engine has less than 6,000 miles on it since a professional rebuild in July 2008. The Carter AFB carburetor was professionally rebuilt 12/21/2016.
The rebuild included stripping the under carriage to bare metal, replacing the driver and passenger floor pans and painting it with Por 15.
The steering box, master cylinder and heater were rebuilt.
Some of the replacement parts included: gas tank (coated with Por 15 clear coat), sending unit, radiator, all ball joints, tie rods, starter, hood hinges and springs, shock towers, front and rear springs and shocks, convertible top and trunk weather strips, stainless steel exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. NOS parts were used when they came available.
The battery is a year old and the tires are like new.
The car was judged in the 2009 Nova Nationals in Beltera, Indiana receiving 755 out of 1000 points. A year later, after more restoration was completed, it received 798 points in the Gettysburg, PA Nova Nationals.
It has an older paint job but is still in nice condition.
The brakes are the original drum brakes and were rebuilt when it was restored.
The interior is in very good condition with new door panels and carpet.
All of the window glass is in very good condition!
The convertible top and rear window are in good shape.
The gas gauge stopped working recently. I don’t think it’s the sending unit because it was replaced with the gas tank. Also the horn is working off of a toggle switch to pass inspection. It may need a horn relay.
I have pictures and receipts from the restorations. Extra parts and repair manuals to go with the sale.
Good luck and please contact me with any questions.
