For just over 3,800 miles, it has proven to be fun, reliable, and trouble-free, and now it is time for the new owner to enjoy it. The truck was a solid and straight 1952 Chevrolet 3100 short bed pickup that was found in Valdosta, GA in running and driving condition. The original 6 cylinder had seen better days, as had the frame, so a decision was made to do a ground up build using a donor V6 Chevy S-10 pickup as the base. The donor truck was sorted out and had new brakes, linings, pads, rotors, springs, shocks, inner and outer tie rods, and suspension bushings installed, along with a cleaned fuel tank, new fuel lines, and a fresh coat of chassis black. The body was stripped of trim and glass, blasted to metal, and then painted with a few coats of PPG Emerald Green before it was cleared and finished off. Everything was assembled and tested before final assembly took place, and the truck has been together for about 2.5 years and 3,802 miles without any issues. VIDEO LINK:https://youtu.be/lGMkxE9rrW4 The body is solid, has no glass panels on it, and a 4x4 magnet will stick anywhere you throw it on the body. Tail gate has a couple thin areas of metal from when it was blasted, but it was left alone as the original intent was to go with a patina look. I took a close-up of it so you can see it clearly. It has its share of little dings and marks from being used like a real truck, but overall still turns heads when you take it to a car show and cruise night, and really gets people’s attention when you pass them at 85 on the interstate! Stone chips, a little dent in the back of the one running board, a few little scratches and scuffs, and other little blemishes are all you see, and if you look closely at all 65 of the EXTRA LARGE photos by opening them up twice from the link under the description section, you will see that the truck does show extremely well. The chrome bumpers are in very good condition front and rear. The door handles are original units and look good. Side mirrors have light oxidation but will probably look a little better when you detail it. Chrome grill and head lamp rings look very good. Stainless wiper arms and windshield trim band look good. Original emblems on the side and hood front look good, but do show aging. Glass is very good all around, and has a light tint. Windows roll up and down easily, and seal tightly. New BOSS MOTORSPORTS 5-spoke fat machined lip wheels were installed and the centers color-matched to the truck. They still look new, as do the 4 235/65R18 tires. The bed floor was raised 4 inches and mini-tubbed, as a planned air ride was in the trucks future. The floor is just Rhino-Lined sheet steel, is sturdy enough to stand on without issue, and has been used for hauling parts and stuff to swap meets all over Florida and Georgia. Doors all close like they should, and stay closed. Hood lines up better than most trucks twice the price, and everything seems to line up really good as you can see in the photos. Interior is neat, clean, and simple, with black auto grade carpeting over sound and heat insulation, seats from a 2006 Silverado with clean cloth upholstery that move forward and back and recline, new armrests, original door panel inserts/window rollers/door pulls, and a painted to match dash fit with new Dolphin gauges for FUEL/OIL/TEMP/VOLTS/SPEEDO/ODOMETER that are all working like they should. Stock trim on the center dash and glovebox looks good, and the sides of the carpet are held down by aluminum sill plates. An S10 column and steering wheel functions as it should, with working signal stalk. The S10 shifter was installed with a leather boot and trim ring, all of which look and function very well. A Vintage Air control unit was installed under the dash for a clean look, and matched to the S10 system. It works wonderfully, and is all R134A from the evaporator to the compressor and everything in between. Headliner panels are in good condition, and are not sagging or pulled. With the relocated gas tank, and the lowered seat mounts used, the truck is super comfortable for anyone from about 4’6” to 6’4” in height without any modifications. The truck starts easily, idles cleanly, and is ready to drive at a moment’s notice, just like your neighbors Camry is. Snick it into gear, and the clutch release is clean and smooth through each and every shift, thanks to the modern synchronized transmission. This is not a drag race truck, but it will move along quite well in traffic, and has plenty of power to handle in town excursions or freeway road trips equally well. I have had it running at a GPS verified 90mph, with no issues or concerns. The speedo is about 4.2mph slower than actual according to GPS. Keep that in mind. Handling is modern and clean, with easy turning thanks to the power steering, and it has such a light feel and easy manners, anyone in the family can drive it with ease. Much like a modern car, it doesn’t have any of the typical classic car problems like overheating, oil leaks, and the constant need to be worked on. Drive it, park it, and it will be ready and waiting for the next time.
