Description

1982 Chevy Camaro 228 Indy 500 Pace Car

This is a completely original 1982 Pace car. It has 70293 actual miles. I'm selling this car simply because it never gets driven. My first car was an '86 Z-28, so I guess it was a little nostalgic to me when I bought it. I paid $3800.00 for the car in 2010. I never titled the car, but have a clear, clean title in previous owners name. It does have the price that I paid for it written on the title, The place for the name of purchaser is left open.

As I said, the car rarely got driven, and I had it stored in a warehouse I own. We got it out, charged the battery, and put in some fresh gas. The car started right up, and runs good, although it wants to idle a little high. I am not at all familiar with crossfire injections, but it has to be something very simple, because it idled perfect before it sat for a couple of years. This is a very mechanically sound vehicle, I just want to be clear that it may need a tune up after mostly sitting for 6 years. Even the A/C worked when I parked it, although it needs charged now.

The only specific mechanical issue (aside from the high idle) is a whine in the differential. It is the exact same whine I have had in Chevy pickups of the same vintage. Makes almost no noise under acceleration, but whines when coasting. This was not a big concern for me because I know they run forever like that, but also because I have another Z28 pace car with a rear disc brake diff that I was going to use. I am selling that car also, and it ends shortly after this one.

The other thing (besides just not getting driven) that prompted me to sell is the dent someoneput above the right rear wheel. As I said, this was in a building I own with only employees having a key, but mysteriously no one knows how it happened. Someone should have this car to drive and enjoy, not just sit and wait for something to fall on it.

The pictures tell the story on this car. There is no rust, no major dings or scratches other than what I described. It's just an honest, low mileage, clean, fun driver. I am not a Chevrolet or Camaro guru, so I'm not much help on deciphering vin numbers, or trim tags, but if you have any questions please call Cort at 620-786-5172

This is a no reserve auction, so car will go to highest bidder, regardless of price.
