HISTORY OF CAR:I BOUGHT THIS CAR OUT OF CALIFORNIA. THIS CAR WAS ALSO ORIGINALLY BUILT AND ASSEMBLED BY GM AT THE CALIFORNIA VAN NUYS ASSEMBLY PLANT IN LATE 1969 FOR THE 1970 PRODUCTION YEAR. THE CAR AFTER BEING BUILT BY GM WAS SHIPPED TO A GM DEALERSHIP IN OREGON AS A BRAND NEW CAR. THIS DEALER WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW WAS SALEM OREGON AT CAPITAL CHEVROLET-CADILLAC PER GM /NCRS RECORDS. THE CAR REMAINED IN OREGON UNTIL 2016 WHEN IT WAS SOLD TO A BUYER IN CALIFORNIA, IRONICALLY RETURNING TO CALIFORNIA WHERE IT WAS FIRST BUILT--THAT IS UNTIL 2019 WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND BROUGHT IT TO INDIANA WHERE IT IS NOW.
THIS CAR WENT THROUGH A MAJOR RESTORATION AT APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES ON ODOMETER: FULL PAINT (NEW VINYL TOP) AND INTERIOR RESTORATION (SEAT COVERS AND CARPET) AND FULL ENGINE REBUILD (PISTONS, RINGS, BEARINGS, CAM, LIFTERS, HEAD SURFACING, GUIDES, AND VALVE JOB) AND TRANSMISSION REFURBISHING AT THIS TIME. ALSO THE SUSPENSION AND BRAKE SYSTEM WERE GONE THROUGH AT TIME OF RESTORATION INCLUDING BALL JOINTS, CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS, AND WHEEL BEARINGS. THE TRANSMISSION IS TH400 WITH PROPER PEDAL MOUNT KICKDOWN ASSEMBLY AND KICKDOWN HARNESS INSTALLED AND FUNCTIONAL. THE REAR END IS #3969278 12-BOLT POSI.
MECHANICS:THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES OUT AND CAN BE DRIVEN ON LONG ROAD TRIP (I WAS DRIVING IT AROUND THIS PAST WEEKEND AND TAKING MY CHILDREN ON A JOY RIDE IN IT WITH THE RECENT NICE WEATHER) :LOTS OF POWER AND TRANS SHIFTS NICE AND FIRM. THE TURN SIGNALS WORK, THE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR BLOWS, THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT WORKS. THE BRAKES WORK WELL AND THE CAR TRACKS DOWN THE ROAD STRAIGHT. THIS CAR HAS POWER STEERING AND POWER FRONT DISC BRAKES! THE HORN DOES WORK ON THIS CAR--UNLIKE MOST 48+ YEAR OLD CARS! THE SPEEDOMETER DOES WORK! OTHER GAUGES WORK ALONG WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS ON FULL WHEN I RECEIVED THE CAR AND AFTER DRIVING IF FOR A COUPLE DAYS IS NOW DOWN AROUND 1/2 TANK, SO FUEL GAUGE DOES APPEAR TO WORK. THE RPM TACHOMETER DOES WORK! THE CHARGING SYSTEM ON THE CAR DOES WORK AND BATTERY REMAINS CHARGED EVEN WHEN CAR IS NOT DRIVEN EACH DAY. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT IT WAS BUILT UP FOR MORE POWER W/ CAM, OVER BORE, AND A BUMP IN COMPRESSION RATIO OVER THE STOCK LS5 360HP RATING AND A 3:73 REAR GEAR INSTALLED INTO THE 12 BOLT REAR END. BE PREPARED: THE CAR FEELS MUCH FASTER THAN STOCK! THE CAR RUNS JUST FINE ON NORMAL PUMP GAS.
OTHER FEATURES:THIS CAR HAS BOXED REAR CONTROL ARMS, SS DASH, BIG BLOCK RAG KNUCKLE ON STEERING SHAFT, TH400 WITH LARGE TH400 CROSS MEMBER, 12 BOLT REAR AXLE WITH CORRECT CASTING NUMBER FOR 1970 SS CHEVELLE, POWER FRONT DISC BRAKES, AND FRONT SWAY BAR 1 1/8 AND REAR SWAY 7/8". THE FUEL LINE ON THE CAR FROM THE FUEL PUMP BACK TO THE TANK IS THE BIG 3/8" LINE. BOTH REAR QUARTERS HAVE GM STAMPINGS IN THE SEAL GUTTERS!
NOTE: I DO HAVE THE CORRECT GM SHIFTER FOR THE CAR AND LINKAGE THAT CAN BE INCLUDED IF YOU WANT TO PU IT BACK TO STOCK CONFIGURATION. LIKEWISE,I HAVE A CORRECT LS5 GM #3955287 CAST IRON INTAKE MANIFOLD ALSO DATED LATE 1969 FOR EARLY BUILT 1970 CHEVELLE THAT CAN BE INCLUDED (CAR PRESENTLY HAS EDELBROCK INTAKE TOP END KIT ON IT WITH HEI IGNITION FOR EASIER STARTING AND MORE POWER).
OPTIONAL CHANGES FOR ADDITIONAL COST:I can install a freshly restored rebuilt dated coded LS6 450hp CRV engine for an additional $10,000.I can install a dated coded M22 Muncie manual rocker Crusher with clutch bellhousing and pedal kit for $3200 additional ---these would be optional changes up to the buyer if you do not want the CRQ block based engine w/ TH400 automatic transmission that are now presently in the car.
