Description

ORIGINAL: has build sheet, protecto plate & book; glove box book, etcetera. Still has the final inspection hand written number on firewall.

Runs & drives great with no smoke or overheat. All original, including carpet.Dash cluster is in excellent shape. Dash has one crack. Seat is torn on driver's side; door panels are excellent. 1968 is the only year of definitive ID that it is an original Super Sport & 396 factory options. Has all SS factory insignia. Nothing has ever been taken out of the car. It is a factory split back bench with column shift. All the glass is great; roll-ups work perfect. All trim is in place & nice. Was originally goldbut repainted many years ago to white (the bed is still the original color). Had a vinyl top, but now primed. So, will need restoration, or "driver" tidy up. Doors are solid no rust, even on the bottom. No holes in bed (you are seeing surface rust).

This was owned most of it's life by a California horse rancher. He had two horse shoes screwed on the tailgate & looks like bull horns on the original hood (leaving screw & bolt holes). Both hood & tailgateare rock solid & can be filled correctly, or shoes & horns, would be cowboyoption two. Mentionable rust is at bottom of vinyl roof trim on one side & bottom of both fenders (one more than other). Great chrome on bumpers.

**Twelve bolt posi-rear axle (worth $1500+ by itself). Power steering & brakes.

New tires. Everything seems to work accept gas gauge seems pegged to full mark.

I can text/emailpictures of the data plate & VIN plate; or other points of interest.

You won't find another SS, 396ci low miles original, low rustdocumented El Camino for this price. Almost any old classic is priced around $15000. Including base model trucks, wagons, & base model El Caminos. Now, finding one that has original low miles, never been butchered, & is a model way above standard cookie cutter renditions, is where money should not be a factor. You found this one. It may be awhile before u see another *SS 396 ORIGINAL. When you do, it WILL NOT be under $20k;it may need extensive rebuild & rust repair. This El Camino could be dusted off, small rust removed, & driven from Florida to California with 99% sure it would make it.

As I told one $10k offerer: I will buy all of the ElCaminos with 2% rust, never went over 40k miles, is no doubt an SS 396 matching numbers, etc. @ $10k per unit. I think he is going to buy one of the other 10 available for sale.

Clear Florida title in my name.

**$500 non-refundable deposit in 24 hours. Balance due in 7 days. As is sale. $20,000 expected. Or, buy the non-original standard SS near this price? Or, buy the non-descript standard with shiny paint near this price?

DRIVE ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.

You won't buy this for "regular" standard/base El Camino price. Wait all you want, I will end this listing BEFORE 7 days if it is not purchased at the appropriate value. Makes for a great tow vehicle for the "other" collectible. Lots of power & not owned by previous "burn-out" owners (in other words-not abused). Miles are "farm used/horse power" true odometer read. 1968-I'm sure the production assemblers were proud to place all the SS 396 EMBLEMS ON THE DASH, DOORS, STEERING WHEEL, FRONT/BACK, FENDERS, ETC.
