Description

You'd think people would get tired of big block Chevelle SS coupes, but the fact is, these are flat-out AWESOME cars in almost every way. There's a reason they sell so quickly, and this beautiful 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 tribute is a great example of why. The great thing about Chevelles is that they evolved, so each year looked a little different from the year before, but the intrinsic goodness of the car never varied. Personally, I prefer the single-headlight '71 over the quad headlight '70 models, and this car has all the right pieces to make it a crowd-pleaser at the next cruise night. It had a high-quality paint job a few years ago, but as a hobby car, it was never used in the daily grind so it still looks bright and fresh. And I have to admit that no other color looks as good on one of these cars as Cortez Silver with black SS stripes and a matching black vinyl top. Of course, a lot of that has to do with the workmanship, which is first-rate throughout, so the panels are straight and the paint shines like a Marine's boots. The silver metallic is tough to match, so you can see a few touch-ups here and there, but overall this is a very straight car that gets a lot of positive attention on the street. The stock grille looks fantastic, and bright pieces like the bumper and fender trim add some contrast, and the vinyl top is in excellent condition. The interior was done right, too, complete with buckets, a 4-speed, and a console, all the goodies you want in your heavy cruiser. Like the exterior, the trim is extremely well done and looks correct, from the tight-fitting seat covers to the door panels that still look new, and we really dig the unusual color combination that works extremely well here. It shows very little wear, mostly because someone has been careful with it, but the workmanship is quite good. A full set of Auto Meter gauges were installed in a custom carbon fiber insert made just for these cars, and the effect is very clean. There's a center console with a correct horseshoe shifter, which you already know is our favorite, and it includes ice cold A/C powered by modern components working behind the scenes. And you'll be especially pleased to see the nicely finished trunk, which offers plenty of space and a correct mat over spatter-finish paint. The engine is a stout 454 cubic inch V8, and who cares if it's an original SS454? Fully rebuilt and ready to do battle, it features some smart upgrades like a polished intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and a set of long-tube headers to let the big block breathe. It was detailed before it was installed, with Chevy Orange paint on the engine itself, custom aluminum big block valve covers, and satin black inner fenders. There's a big aluminum radiator up front and it exhales through a pair of Flowmasters that sound awesome. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission has been fitted, as well as a 12-bolt rear end, so all the heavy-duty stuff is in place. The front disc brakes are augmented with cross-drilled rotors and it sits on flashy 18-inch Ridler wheels and 245/45/18 performance radials. So indulge yourself; you've always wanted a red Chevelle with a big block, here's your chance to own one of the nicer ones we've seen lately. Call today!
