Description

1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 with period correct 396 engine. This car has been restored. The car was originally white with a black vinyl top but has been repainted Maroon. This was a highly optioned car when it left the factory. Here is a list of options:Rally SportSS 396 L-34 350 HPAutomatic transmissionAir conditioningDeluxe interiorCenter console with GaugesIn dash tachometerTilt steering wheelPower steeringPower brakes
This car does not have the original engine, which, normally in a 1968 Camaro presents a problem authenticating whether or not it is a true SS. However, this car has the original Turbo 400 transmission (only used with the 396) with matching Vin and ID tag indicating the 350 HP option. It also has the correct 3:07 open differential 12 bolt rearend that was standard on 350 HP cars with A/C. One of the front springs was broken and upon removal, i found the original spring labels also indicating the 350 HP engine option. I have the original labels saved. The original A/C case was damaged from all the heat over the years, so we installed vintage air during the restoration for easier access to the engine. Has new deluxe interior.
This car had virtually no rust when we purchased it, but at some point in the past, someone added fender flares. The original fenders and quarters were replaced due to the flares. During the restoration, we added power windows the front doors and a vintage appearing modern radio.
The 396 engine has a small cam, Edelbrock intake, carb, and ceramic coated headers. Runs great and sounds great. Has a BeCool Aluminum radiator with electric fans.
1968 Camaros are the hardest of the first gens to verify which engine originally was installed. Thanks to the original trans in the car, we know this car was one of only 2,579 L-34 350 HP SS Camaros built. Add the RS, A/C, and Auto trans options, that gives you a pretty rare car. (There were 4575 375 HP Camaros built) This car was bought to be a cruiser not a racer. This is a car that you can still get in, turn the key, and enjoy the ride...
Thanks for looking at the car
