Chevy's Camaro was a relative latecomer to the muscle car wars of the early and mid-'60s but once it joined the fray, its impact was immediate - American car buyers were taken with its wide stance, clean lines and overall stylish good looks. More than a half century has passed since that introduction, so it's always a welcome sight to come across a specimen that's in road-ready condition while still outfitted in a thoroughly stock configuration, like this 1968 Chevrolet... Camaro. Good fortune and a little bit of luck has kept this vintage Chevy intact and looking very straight and solid. The original butternut yellow it rolled off the showroom floor with has received a freshening up sometime over the years to complement the factory appearance on display here and it's got a nice even coloring and consistent texture that suggests you won't find any unexpected damage lurking beneath. The overall exterior alignment also appears to be very strong here - Camaros of this era feature lengthy body contours and the ones here remain nice and even as they transition from front fender to door to rear quarter panel. There's no doubt that this Camaro will turn heads on the street just as it is, but should you opt to take its overall appearance to the next level, all the chrome and brightwork on board here sits securely in place and the glass surrounding the cabin is as clear as you could want. Inside the doors, the interior has been totally refurbished to almost entirely stock specs and is in really nice shape. Poke your head in and you'll see an array of replaced, period-correct components - the black vinyl front buckets and rear bench seat, the door panels to each side, the well-fitted headliner above and carpeting lining the floor that looks outright new. A supple-looking, fresh black pad looms over the dash area and just beyond the original steering wheel you'll find the factory gauges still in place in the instrument panel, easily readable and fully functional. The AM/FM/Cassette stereo recessed into the center of the dash is about the only deviation from its original form here as it stands by to provide an era-correct audio experience while you're on the road. Every control knob and switch is present and accounted for and if you were to swap out the shifter stem on the column and the air vents - both very easy fixes, by the way - you'd be looking at a vintage interior in top form. This '68 is still running on numbers-matching power provided by the original 327 cubic inch V8 sitting beneath the hood. This class of small block generated a lot of praise over the years for its consistent reliability and the representative here is no exception - decked out with a chrome air cleaner and a pair of finned Corvette-style valve covers, it received a tune up not long ago and is running very strong. A recently replaced exhaust system extends rearward behind the stock manifolds and it provides a nice mild rumble - deep enough to represent the model's muscle car identity, but not so loud as to be distracting. Featured power brakes and power steering make navigating and stopping easy as this sharp, authentic-looking Camaro cruises on a set of 15" Corvette rally-style wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A radials that have plenty of tread still remaining. Below, the undercarriage looks very solid. With its clean, stock appearance and very strong running condition, this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro will be a great score for the enthusiast who puts a premium on authenticity. Call today!
