Description

You're looking at a real-deal 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396, but this icon of American muscle has been enhanced even further with fuel-injected 454 big block power. So it's hard not to love an upgraded monster motor with all the right suspension and drivetrain upgrades added, too. And that's far from the only custom pieces on this hardtop. Chevy fans are probably doing a double-take on this one. Yes, this is a '66 Chevelle, but it has the... more aggressive front end of the '67. It's a cool custom piece that requires a lot more work than just adding a grille. And once they finished modifying the body, they finished it off with a super-slick coat of black paint. While the presentation is unique it's also important, because this was the first year for the Super Sport 396 as its own separate model. The coupe wears its unique pieces with pride, including the blacked-out tail, faux hood vents, ribbed lower trim panels, and even the 396 badging on the fender (more on that in a moment.) This SS396 is now more aggressive than its siblings from the factory, and so a great finishing touch is the set of 17-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. Open the door, and you're greeted to a handsome bucket seat interior with plenty of upgrades that captures this Chevelle's comfortable and performance dual-purpose nature. The seats, door panels, carpets, and headliner have that kind of fresh black appearance that makes us believe there was quite a nice investment in the interior. And this sea of darkness is broken up by some nice wood on the upgraded steering wheel and dash trim. There's a terrific AM/FM/CD stereo system that includes three amps, a subwoofer, and even Bluetooth connections. Plus, you instantly can see this is a performance machine by the B&M shifter, auxiliary gauges, and large AutoMeter pillar-mounted tach. And yes, you did spot a Holley Sniper EFI control module on the center console to dial in your ideal performance. So those SS badges on the outside say 396, but the truth is there's a 454 big block living under the hood. It looks fantastic in the engine bay with plenty of shiny components and the black valve covers matching the smooth fender walls. This V8 has the right supporting components like an MSD ignition, steel braided lines, and a new Optima red top battery. You'll understand why they say "there's no replacement for displacement" the moment you turn the key and hear the roar of long tube performance headers that feed the dual exhaust. And that Holley fuel-injection system delivers the best in performance and reliability. In fact, this one has an ideal balance of performance and strength thanks to a Monster 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission that was installed in 2016 (a $3,500 investment.) They also invested in the suspension. The rear now has Hotchkis boxed trailing arms, air ride shocks, and Lakewood springs. Plus, there's power steering and Wilwood vented front disc brakes. The sale comes with build receipts, maintenance records, service manuals, and the owner's manual. There's even the components for a NOS system. It's a unique and powerful Chevelle that will only disappoint if you miss this deal. Call today!!!
