Description

Sometimes you just want a really nice old truck. Not a beater, not someone else's old work truck, but something you can wash on the weekends without feeling like you're wasting your time, a truck that gets nods of approval in the parking lot, a truck that looks and runs great but that doesn't cost a fortune. Case in point? This extremely clean and slick 1987 Chevrolet C10 pickup. Finished in an attractive shade of blue metallic,... the regular cab/long bed style is the one to own if you're using it to move almost anything you want, and look good while you're doing it. Trim, relatively athletic with the small block V8 under the hood, and arguably the most handsome of the bunch, this C10 is incredibly well preserved/restored for having lived three decades of life. Thanks to an easy life in warm, dry Texas and a top driver-quality repaint, it's in great shape, and with a bed painted to match made of hard, American steel it's still ready to do some heavy lifting. The paint looks better than you'd expect on a box Chevy truck, but we're glad they went the extra mile to give this '87 a coat it's always deserved. The one thing we can be certain of, however, is that this truck has been expertly maintained and loved all its life. The chrome and stainless are still bright, the glass is clear, and the chrome rear bumper adds a sporty yet heavy-duty look. The interior is equally nice, with blue velour on the bench seat and tough carpeting under foot. The dash pad and door panels are original and show some signs of wear and tear, while the rest appears to be nice original stuff ass well. The dash and gauges are factory and clean, but the factory radio has been replaced by a newer digital AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that's a big improvement over the original gear. It also has cold factory A/C that has been converted to R134a refrigerant for easy service in the future. This is a very clean, original interior that has clearly been well-maintained and can be left as-is, or restored just a little bit to put it over the top to match the higher quality of the exterior. Just get in and go and don't worry about getting a little mud in there while you're working because that's what this truck was made to do. The great thing about old trucks is that they are perhaps the closest living relatives to the mighty muscle cars. V8 power, rear-wheel drive, and a sturdy suspension all give this truck the feeling that it could haul anything. Looking almost completely stock, the 350 cubic inch V8 runs well, delivering smooth power and torque without a hiccup. Most of the original components are still in place or have been replaced with OEM components, including the air cleaner, accessories, and even the original stamped steel valve covers. With throttle body fuel injection, it starts easily and idles well, and there's a surprising amount of torque on tap. The original exhaust manifolds dump into what may be the original exhaust system so it certainly sounds like the muscle truck that came from the factory. The 700R4 4-speed automatic is durable enough to do the heavy work yet can still can cruise at highway speeds with relative ease, and as you can see underneath, this truck is a Texas good 'ol boy; it's solid! Handsome American Racing polished aluminum wheels add just enough flash and wear 255/45/20 front and 275/45/20 rear blackwall radials. Take this truck just about anywhere and you will undoubtedly hear, "Nice truck," and get an approving nod. These were handsome machines when new and today are gaining respect as collector's items.
