Description

One of the most documented SS in the country with a great story. A marine returned from Vietnam in 1969 and treated himself to a brand new 1970 SS. He owned it until he passed in 2015, 46 years. He also kept all the documentation from original invoice to a gas mileage log. In 1999 the motor was a little tired, he decided to build a beast. We have a VHS tape of him installing a 502 motor. He also... upgraded to a Super T-10 4-speed, 9" rear, 4 wheel disc and Hotchkis suspension components. It was built right. Runs mean, cruises nice. EXTERIOR: Factory Astro blue, beautiful color you dont see very often. No ugly vinyl top. Has very clean original metal except lower 1/4s were properly replaced. The body is laser straight, no issues. Everything fits real nice. Has original cowl induction hood that functions. It was only repainted once, back in 1999. It has proven itself to last this long and look as good as it does. It has some nicks touched up but shows really well, has glass finish. Stripes are painted correctly. Up front looks pristine. The grill, emblem, bumper, lenses, bezels look new. Has H4 LED headlights. The wheel well trim, emblems, all the stainless around the glass and the roof are shiny. Door handles are shiny. In back the bumper, tail lights, SS rubber pad is all excellent. The door jambs are very clean, bottom of doors are dry metal. The weather strips and window seals are like new. Has SS wheels, wider in the back. Shiny trim rings and center caps. INTERIOR: Inside is really mint. From carpet to headliner everything looks new, fits right, functions properly. Interior lights work, gauges light up up crystal clear, heater controls slide smooth, windows roll easily. No cracdooin the dash pad. New mirror, handles, SS floormats. Has retro stereo in factory hole with 6x9 speakers in back. It does have aftermarket tachometer and gauges. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Now has a GM 502-502 horsepower crate motor. It runs real strong! Has aluminum heads, intake, and water pump. Big 850 Holley carb with fuel regulator. MSD ignition system with fat plug wires. An oversized aluminum radiator with dual electric fans keep it running cool. Everything is sharp looking, clean and tidy. Really nice set of polished Billet hinges. Wilwood master cylinder with cadmium plated brake booster. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: All clean metal with a real nice durable coat of the aqua spatter finish. It has an SS wheel with the jack all properly mounted. New mat. Under the trunk lid and the jamb are original paint in excellent shape. Has original jacking instructions decal and weatherstrip. Four little stickers are for each one of his children. UNDERSIDE: Front end is completely rebuilt. In back it has Hotchkis suspension including extreme sway bar, upper and lower control arms. Currie Ford 9 inch rear with 4.10 posi gears. 3 inch all stainless exhaust including clamps. Has x-pipe and polished Magnaflow mufflers. Upgraded Wilwood 4 wheel disc brake system with braided hoses, stainless lines, e-brake is hooked up. Bottom of motor is clean, has high torque starter. Rebuilt Super T-10 4-speed, all upgraded clutch, shift linkage, heavy duty bell housing. Custom drive shaft. Floors are completely solid, rust free original metal. It is obvious to me that this car was this man's passion. It was an ongoing love affair to make it better and maintain it to the a high standard. That is the type of person you dream to buy a car from. Really, by far this car has the biggest pile of documentation then any car we've ever had! A 9 inch pile, not a stack of books, but receipts of everything from day 1. This is a rare opportunity to buy the most iconic muscle car with a great story. Functions incredibly well, strong too! I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered.
