1969 Chevrolet C10 Frame Off Restored LS 6.0L Swap Vintage Air
Description
This is a 1969 C10 that has a recently completed, 3 year frame-off restoration. I took my time restoring this truck as I intended to keep it, but times and interests change and now it is for sale. I have put over 1100 miles on it since finishing and have attended and won a few car shows. This truck gets a lot of attention at these events.
The truck has new, show quality paint. 10 out of 10. It is flawless. Body has no issues at all. The cab had all rust repaired and it was done perfectly. New floor, cab corners and rockers, new cab top. Looks very nice, body lines and gaps are all very good. New aftermarket doors shut perfectly. I also put a new wood floor bed and new hood on it. All sheet metal came from Southern Kentucky Classics…this is the best you can get for these trucks. The wood is Oak with Walnut stain and 7 coats of polyurethane with all stainless trim and hardware. Trim on body came from Mar-K in Oklahoma City...looks perfect. It is 10 out of 10 on appearance.
Interior is Black vinyl bucket seats with console. Everything is new. New upholstery, dash components, carpet. The instruments are Dakota Digital HDX and they look and work great. New three point seat belts. The sound system is a new Pioneer head unit with Rockford Fosgate speakers and amp. Has 10” subwoofers behind the seats, 6.5” in the kick panels and 4” in dash. The Rockford 5 channel amp runs everything with ease. The console, kick panels, and speaker box have all been vinyl wrapped to match other components. Steering wheel is a Billet Specialties Vintec that matches the exterior. Interior is perfect, also a 10 out of 10.
Engine is an LS 6.0 liter out of a 2005 Silverado. This is a 16,000 mile engine that has a GM hot cam and a couple other small modifications. Painted to match shaved intake and air cleaner tube. The exhaust is ceramic coated flow master mufflers and pipes with headers. It has been professionally tuned by CBI Inc in St Louis. Sounds good and looks good.
Transmission is the 4L60E. I went ahead and had it rebuilt to have a more firm shift. It performs flawlessly. A one piece drive shaft connects to the stock 3.73 rear axle, which is the correct gearing for this package. Gets 18 mpg on highway with the overdrive transmission driving at 70 mph with the air conditioning running.
The rest of the drive train and suspension has been rebuilt and all in perfect condition. It is an original short bed, 115” wheel base truck, not a cut down long bed. The VIN matches on the frame, title, and door pillar. The truck was lowered 4 inches in the front and 6 in the rear. It has CPP trailing arms, cross members, shock relocators, shocks, C-notch, front brakes, master cylinder and booster, steering arms, steering box (with better ratio for these trucks), and sway bar, It has a coil spring rear end. Trucks that are lowered with a coil spring rear end have a much softer feel and not nearly as rough riding. I also installed a sway bar to the front. Tires and wheels are Billet Speciaties Vintec SL, 20” front and rear with Toyo Proxes 3 tires. Truck handles great.
This truck has a Gen IV, Vintage Air conditioning that works well. Comes out at 43 degrees. These trucks are miserable without A/C. I also installed sound deadener under carpet, in doors and behind speaker box to aid in comfort. It also has power brakes, power steering, tilt wheel and perfectly working cruise control.
Everything has been rebuilt or new on this truck. New tires, exhaust, battery, windshield, rear window, side windows with vent windows, gas tank (which was relocated to the rear), fuel lines, brakes, calipers, booster, master cylinder, brake lines, Derale radiator, fan controller and fans, lights, wiring, mirrors, grill, emblems, all new synthetic fluids ...virtually everything. I spent a lot of money and time on the wiring harnesses...this, in my opinion, is where a lot of classic cars and especially LS swaps have issues. ALL of the wiring is new with new connectors and soldered for reliability.
All in all this is a very nice restored LS powered C10 with Vintage Air conditioning that is turn-key, ready to enjoy. Needs nothing at all. It is a 50 year old truck that drives like a new Silverado…it is in near perfect condition.
If a bidder needs someone to inspect the truck, there is a local club here and many of the members are helpful and know classic vehicles. Show-me Corvettes is the club and they can be found on the web or Facebook.
You could fly into Lambert Airport in St Louis and drive this truck home if prepaid. No doubts in my mind that this truck is reliable. I have the means to ship if needed. It will cost less than $1500 anywhere in the U.S..
I can be here virtually anytime for viewing. I have more pictures available to interested parties. Clean, clear title in hand. Call or text 573-631-1941 if you have any questions. I love to talk old cars so don’t hesitate to contact me.
