Description

Stock and original, great running and driving, rust-free and accident-free, 1987 Chevrolet Caprice station wagon with only 83k original miles (verified by CarFax and prior owner). This wagon was bought new at Quality Chevrolet in San Diego, CA and made it's way to the dry, desert climate of St. George, UT in 1997 where it's been ever since. In 1997 it had 58k miles and by 2007 it had almost reached 68k miles. And now, in 2019, it has just exceeded 83k miles.
The running gear is excellent. It has the 5.0L (307cid) V8 with 4 barrel carburetor connected to a 700R4 4 speed automatic transmission... typical bulletproof GM running gear. It starts up smoothly and runs and drives like new. The only flaw I can find is a very small leak on the bottom of the muffler. It looks like it could easily be patched.
The body is rust-free, accident-free, and still has the original paint. It's got some minor flaws consistent with 32 years of use in a warm and dry climate but nothing major. Everything is clearly documented in my additional pictures; please ask for them. All glass is good and doors open and close solidly.
The interior is original in every way with no modifications whatsoever (not even an aftermarket stereo). I suspect the folding 3rd seat has never been used and the rear seat has been used sparingly. Unfortunately, the first owner was a smoker and it shows on the driver seat and driver side carpet. Thankfully, it was long ago and no odor remains. The dash pad is badly cracked (replacements are available on Ebay), there are some modest carpet stains, and the headliner has some sagging (a downside to our warm and dry climate). A big plus in my opinion is manual windows and seats (very simple and reliable).
This is a sweet, unmolested ride. It's very tight and drives perfectly. Square body full-size Chevrolet's are starting to increase in value. That this one is all stock and original with low, documented miles only adds to it's value. Plus it's practical... there's no reason it can't be used as a daily driver. I hope she ends up with someone recognizes her uniqueness and will take good care of her.
