1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe Survivor Original Paint Untouched
Description
For sale is this 1969 Chevelle Malibu which is the true definition of a survivor. This Malibu still retains 95% of its original paint, its original white vinyl top, complete original interior, original 307ci motor, Turbo 350 transmission and Posi rear end. You can tell the car was very well taken care of its entire life based upon its current condition. There aren't too many of these cars left out there in this shape. Best of all its ready to be driven. The car has power steering and air conditioning and can be driven by anyone!
Exterior: The original rare Champagne Mist paint is in good shape. The car is 50 years old now and it does show some signs of wear but is really too nice to re-paint. The car has a few scratches and dings as one would expect but nothing that needs addressed immediately - see a few pictures above for the more noticeable flaws. Original white vinyl top is in very good shape, no rips or tears, a couple minor pimples under the back glass on the passenger side. The car retains all of its original tinted glass which is in excellent condition, no scratches or cracks. The car has its original bumpers which are in good shape, not perfect and all its original trim. The trim is very very nice, not all dinged up and you can tell it will polish up to a like new shine. The car still has a really nice shine as shown in pictures and makes a great presentation at any show. The mag caps are in nice shape as well and the car has four brand new white wall radials just installed 600 miles ago. Underneath the car is original and solid. There is no rot, the frame is extremely solid but the underneath has not been detailed or painted. There is some minor surface rust and some undercoat.
Interior: The interior is completely original from the headliner down to the carpet. The white seat covers are in excellent shape, not a single rip or seam splitting anywhere. The headliner is in nice shape, door panels are in excellent shape, the plastic on the arm rests have discolored over time. The carpet is in good shape but shows wear as one would expect for a car this age. The dash pad is excellent, the dash itself it excellent and all gauges are clear and brilliant. The car also has a very rare factory AM/FM radio that works. Dome light works as well. Sill plates are original and could stand to be replaced.
Running/Driving: When I say the car runs and drives like a new one it is not an exaggeration. This past weekend we drove this car 500 miles round trip to Columbus for the Goodguys show without any issues! The car cruises along the highway at 75-80mph like its nothing. The 307ci motor starts right up and runs strong. The fast idle even works. The car goes down the road straight without any rattles or squeaks. The brakes were just gone over and we replaced the original rear shoes. The car stops excellent. The car still has the original exhaust and the muffler has a nice little tone to it, a bit raspy. Car doesn't smoke or leak oil and is extremely reliable. All factory A/C equipment is still on the car but the A/C is not currently working - the clutch on the compressor is bad. Everything else on the car is in perfect working order, gas gauge works and is accurate, windshield washers work etc.
This is a true survivor car that is mechanically very sound and still makes a great appearance. From 10 feet away many people mistake it as a restored/re-painted car like many you see at shows. It isn't until you get up close that some of the blemishes and character shows! These cars are getting harder and harder to find in this shape. With this car you know exactly what you are getting and it is a great starting point for a hot rod, resto-mod or SS clone. This car can also be left original and be driven anywhere and everywhere you'd like!
This Malibu is for sale locally - if the car is sold prior to the reserve price being met it will be taken off eBay. If the reserve price is met the car will run till the end of the auction.
