Description

1963 Chevrolet Corvair Spyder convertible, 180 HP, power top, road ready, engine under 1000 miles: There it is, for those looking for an exceptional ride, dependable and completely road ready: this car has been completely gone through mechanically, the engine has been rebuilt; this recent rebuild was beyond the standard rebuild job: the heads have been completely rebuilt, new seats, deeper and wider for better performance, new bronze guides, new stainless steel exhaust valves, new steel 1 intake valves, heavy duty valve springs with inner damper for better performance; valve job & resurfacing have been done;
head rails have been resurfaced as well; crankshaft has been rebuilt and a brand new crankshaft gear installed, unit balanced; new camshaft with a new cam gear, new pistons with balanced rods; Hastings Molly rings; new lifters, new push rods, electric fuel pump and many other new parts in the engine, more details available upon request; heavy duty balanced clutch system, bolted and lightened flywheel, heavy-duty pressure plate with a new ring gear, rebuilt starter with a new solenoid, new shifter coupler; the rear suspension has been completely rebuilt, new bushings all around, with new transmission motor mounts, new transmission shifter coupler and quick shift kit, new engine motor mounts, new rear brakes, wheel cylinders and brake springs, new U-joints, re-greased rear axle bearings (1 of the axle bearings in an NOS one); 4-speed manual transmission and differential work excellent; front suspension completely rebuilt, upgraded to a 1964 for better performance; front disc brakes, 4 new white wall tires, new heavy duty shocks, front and rear; gas tank has been gone through, new filler neck hoses and complete sending unit. New battery, new misc. engine grommets.
The interior is in good condition, new black carpet, seats and door panels have been redone in the past by previous owner; brand new top, new roof rail seals, new power top cylinder and hoses; check photos and their description really carefully, I will try to describe in more details, including imperfections. You will get a car with no hidden defects, no bad surprises. The windshield has some scratches; the car can use some more details, but all the main work is done.
Exterior wise, the body looks pretty good, the paint is not new but decent; some rust in some spots; engine compartment has new engine lid weatherstrip, and new body between hinges weatherstrip; new outside mirror and new armrests; I will describe what I can see carefully, without removing any body parts. The front floors look like the previous owner did some work to them. The heater works, has new hoses, dang! I did so much work to this car that it is hard to remember all the little details, but I will go through it again, and if I see any little detail that I forgot, I will update; Headlight bezels are like new, excellent, as you can see in the pix. All lights work; has lap seat belts in good working condition.I originally bought this car for myself, that is why I went the extra mile mechanically and in upgrades, to make sure that it would be reliable and far better than stock in performance and safety; now I am selling it; don't forget that the 1963 Turbo Spyder originally came with a 150 HP short stroke engine....not an optimal performance engine.....before the Turbo unit kicks in, you were basically driving an 80 HP, LOL! now, upgraded to a later 1965 long block Turbo ...180 HP, with the original gone through and resealed 63 Turbo unit and a 1965 carburetor, and before the Turbo unit kicks in, you are basically driving an awesome, highly responsive 110 HP, big difference! that is why I did these extensive modifications...
Don't hesitate to ask any questions, more pix available upon request; serious inquiries and serious offers only. If you would take your car to a shop to do what I have done to this car, you would pay easily over what I am asking for this complete ride. Happy to be at your service! Rafee Corvair. You won't find another another Vair in this condition, with all this work done, at that price.
