Description

You can make the argument that Ford invented the pony car, but the Camaro perfected it. This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS Tribute has the look, the sound, and the performance that you've always hoped your next collector car would offer, all at a very attractive price. The color on this F-body looks like it has a bit of candy apple and/or bright burgundy mixed in the finish, and it's both sporting and sophisticated. Finish quality is quite good... and the pinstripes were buried under the clear, so it has a seamless look that suggests a lot of money went into the cosmetics. Camaros don't hide bad body work very well, so the straight quarter panels and good gaps are a testament to both quality base stock and impressive effort by the guys tasked with putting it all together. The chrome, bright trim, and grille is all new, and it provides a wonderful backdrop to the high-impact finish. Outfitted with correct "SS", "Camaro", and "327" badges, cool clear headlights, a cowl induction hood, and chin spoiler plus ducktail spoiler combo fore and aft, it has a performance look that stands out with the details. The two-tone, vinyl-and-suede tan bucket seat interior was restored to a high-level just like the bodywork, and the quality seat covers remain inviting and are free of rips or tears. A newer dash pad, carpets and door panels look fantastic, and despite the light color, show very little signs of ever being used. The factory gauges covered only the basics of speed and fuel level, so a set of auxiliary instruments were fitted below the dash in the usual location just ahead of the horseshoe shifter for the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission underneath. Newer weather seals and window felt seal it up well and help control squeaks and rattles in the 50-year-old F-body, and compared with a similar Mustang of this vintage, the Camaro feels decidedly more modern from behind the wheel. The back seat looks almost new and the trunk is spacious and finished with a reproduction mat. Powering this '68 is a 350 V8 motor that slots neatly into the Camaro's finished and detailed engine bay. Topped with chrome valve covers and a matching open-element air cleaner, it has some sparkle to go with its hustle. Double-hump heads, an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, polished intake manifold, and an HEI ignition system ensure that it's a smooth runner, while a set of long-tube headers feed a custom Flowmaster dual exhaust system to make added horsepower and some awesome sounds. The brakes were upgraded to discs all around for responsive stopping power, and subframe connectors add some much-appreciated rigidity to the unibody shell. The 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and highway-friendly gears in the 10-bolt rear-end ensure effortless high-speed cruising while power steering makes driving a breeze. Shiny and staggered for an awesome rake, the chrome American Racing Torque Thrust rims give the car a trick look, and they're wrapped in 225/45/18 front and 245/45/20 rear Nexen performance radials. Flashy yet sophisticated, this Camaro offers a fantastic look, plenty of power, and excellent fundamentals for the enthusiast that's looking to live the dream in style. Call today!
