[isdntekvideo] [NOTE - CAR STILL HAS LOTS OF DUST & DIRT TO BE CLEANED]TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS /INFORMATION
Overall information on the car.
Built at Van Nuys, California plant November 1966. It is an original L30/M20 car (essentially the "sleeper version" of the SS). This car has the ORIGINAL NUMBERS MATCHING L30 MK code 275 hp engine, all original rust free body (exceptions: one small rust repair from stone chips on left rear behind wheel, see note about new trunk well pan/repair, and the hood has been replaced with SS style). It is the original Bolero Red color and has only one repaint. The original Saginaw 4 speed has been upgraded to the more durable Muncie, the 10 bolt rear end upgraded to a 12 bolt positraction (all SS 350 and L30/M20 cars built until late December 1966 came with 10 bolts).
[NOTE: CRG reports can be referenced for L30/M20 and SS car production configuration details].
Believed to have been originally delivered/sold in Arizona (which is where it was reportedly purchased and moved to Wisconsin in 1980). I purchased it (through my father) in 1983 from the police chief of a medium sized city near where I grew up (I have verified he isstillaround, about the age of 85, but have been unable to get an accurate phone number). I was told he purchased it for his son, but the young man "got himselfinto LEGAL TROUBLE" (go figure - those you would think should know betteralways seem to be the most rebellious). The police chief took the car away and parked it until "his son got his act together". That was nothappening so, you guessed it, he sold it - to me! After all these years I wanted to verify the whole story with the former police chief, but no luck so far.
The original engine retains all key components with the exception of valve covers (replaced with OEM Chevrolet script SS correct units), air cleaner, plug wires, and miscellaneous. The numbers matching Quadrajet has just been internally upgraded with kit to the newer style float needle & seat which also included sealing components compatible with todays fuel(from 65' thru early 67' Rochester had a poorly designed plunger float stopper design that failed on many cars early, somehow mine survived up to being stored in 1985).
The Deluxe Interior and RS equipment almost entirely came from a car that had them removed for weight reduction when that car (not this one) was converted to a drag car in 1970 and stored in original owner's basement until I bought the pieces in 1983 a few months after purchasing this car (and yes, THE HIDEAWAY HEADLIGHTS DO WORK).
The deep dish Corvette rally wheels sport P215-60R-15's up front and
P265-50R-15's in the rear. Tread depth is like new and they were stored in the house.
Car is equipped with many desirable options. All that didn't originally come on it were OEM original GM production parts acquired (except as noted) in 1983 / 84: *Actual 67' Headrest(searched 3 years from 83' thru 85' for these with seat backs & hardware)
