Brief Vehicle History:
This car was found in a barn in Montana and the individual who found the car had a very detailed high quality frame off restoration performed in California. I purchased the car in 2009 and at the time of my purchase the car had zero miles on the restoration.
I have put less than 100 miles on the car since my purchase in 2009.
At first glance, the car appears to have had a very technical, by the book, frame off restoration. That is until you raise the hood and look at the power train components. (More on the power train details later.)
The quality of the fiber glass components of the first generation Corvettes were not up to the standards of the later generation Corvettes. All of the doors and panels on this car were trued to the body before any paint work was performed. All chrome components of the car were either replaced or re-chromed. All new stainless trim was installed along with all new interior, carpets, door panels, seats, and new convertible top. All new glass and rubber components were installed. All hinges were either restored or were replaced with NOS. All new NOS bolts throughout. New brakes, and new stainless steel brake lines, The suspension system was completely restored with new components. Please spend some time reviewing the pictures of the underside of this car. Please note that the leaf springs have a canvas insert installed between each leaf spring. I have yet to see a frame off restoration where the springs were restored to this level of detail.
This week I have had all of the door rubber seals replaced with new rubber and a high quality glue as the original seals were coming lose in some places.
Note: The car does come with the factory hardtop that was also restored with all new glass and chrome trim.
Please note that this car has power windows which is rare for this vintage Corvette.
Now, for the details of the Power Train:
The motor is a 383 stroker that puts out an estimated 400+ hp. The car has a Griffin aluminum radiator, a Muncie 4 speed rock crusher rebuilt transmission and a rebuilt 1962 rear end. The individual who restored the car told me that he used a 1962 Corvette rear end as he had been told that Chevrolet had beefed up the rear end when they went to the 327 cubic inch motor.
The motor is a 4 bolt main 350 stroker that has 383 cubic inches. The engine components are as follows:>4340 forged steel crank>Clevite bearings>TRW forged pistons with sealed power rings>Crane hydr. roller cam and Crane gold roller lifters and guide plates>Crower rods>Melling HiPro oil pump>Fluiddamper harmonic damper>Milodon diamond stripper windage tray & Milodon 6 qt oil pan>All engine studs & bolts are ARP>Edelbrock Performer RPM heads>Edelbrock intake with 2-500 cfm Edelbrock carbs>Edelbrock aluminum water pump>Cloyes roller timing gear with quick change cover>CSI mini high torque starter>Ram billet steel flywheel with Haynes clutch and pressure plate>Rebuilt Muncie Rock Crusher Transmission>New Posi Track rear end>Borla 2" stainless steel mufflers and exhaust pipes.
Body and Paint:
When the car was restored the shop in California used lacquer paint which is what the factory used when the car was built in 1960. The quality of the paint was not up to the standards of the rest of the car and the car was re-painted this year. Their are no scratches, or dings on any of the painted painted surfaces. There are no cracks in any of the fiberglass components of this car.
The paint is by no means perfect, however, the gloss on this paint job is simply outstanding and the pictures do not do justice to the paint finish.
Please keep in mind that this car is now 56 years old and it is not new. With that having been said the restoration that was performed on this car was performed to very high quality standards, again the car is not new.
This car is being sold in "as is where is condition" and there is not warranty implied or otherwise.

It is very costly to perform a quality frame off restoration on these old cars. You can purchase these cars that have had a quality frame off restoration for pennies on the dollar.
This car is a case in point.

As stated in the description, the hard top to the car was restored at the time the car was restored. I have always thought that the hard tops on this generation Corvette looks like an abortion when set on top of this beautiful classic first generation Corvette. For this reason, the first thing I did when I got the car home was to take the top off and put it in storage where it has remained until today. When I pulled it out of storage today, I have noticed that the rubber seals on the hard top will likely need to be replaced. The hard top still has the original Roman Red lacquer paint and was not repainted this year as was the entire car.
Update: Roman Red Paint:
Due to recent government environmental restrictions, some of the components required to make this color paint are no longer available to paint companies. When the car was re-painted this year, the local paint store manager, after filling my paint order, stated that he still had enough paint components to make almost a gallon of paint. I decided to invest in the paint, and have between 2/3rd and 3/4th of a gallon that will go with the car.
