Description

For sale is a very fun, powerful, loud, heavily modified and mechanically solid 1977 Chevrolet Corvette C3 Singray street-rod.
I've owned this car for over 13 years and have spent the majority of my time and money restoring/upgrading virtually every electrical and mechanical component on and in it. However, the interior has also had some restoration, as well.
The body/fiberglass is straight, clean and ready for paint work. The window and T-Top rubber seals need to be replaced. I have a brand new set of replacement seals and will include them in the sale if I can find them.
Mechanically, the upgraded drivetrain is as follows:
Engine: The original, matching numbers L48 350 small block V8 was rebuilt and stroked to 383 cubic inches with a 400 crank shaft, super lumpy Comp Cams high lift, flat tappet camshaft, a Moroso deep sump aluminum 7 quart oil pan, high volume oil pump, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake, a heavily modified Holley 770 double pumper carburetor to provide adequate fuel, long tube headers, full custom 3" dual exhaust with dual racing catalytic converters and dual Flowmaster 10 series racing mufflers. The original heads were retained, but heavily modified with porting and polishing, Comp Cams racing springs, roller rockers and larger stainless steel intake and exhaust valves. An MSD Multiple Spark ignition was added and upgrades to the distributor were made. Engine cooling is achieved with a Be Cool aluminum radiator and dual electric fans (the car never gets hot, even when it is hot outside). The heater core was replaced a few years back as well. A Comp Cams vacuum pump was installed to provide extra vacuum boost for the Brake Booster and headlights to be able to work seamlessly in conjunction with the high lift camshaft. At the time of the engine rebuilding, all new motor mounts, new water pump, new power steering pump, new belts, new hoses and new alternator were installed. The battery was also replaced in September, 2017. Additionally, the original mechanical fuel pump was replaced with an electric fuel pump. The engine has only received Mobil-1 10W30 motor oil since the rebuild.
Transmission: The original TH350 three speed automatic was removed and replaced with a rebuilt and shift kit upgraded TH700-R4, four speed overdrive automatic transmission. The drive shaft was shortened and balanced and a finned, aluminum oil pan with drain plug was installed for looks and convenience. All U joints were replaced and a beefed up stall speed torque converter was added. The transmission oil is synthetic. The low first gear ratio and torque convertor really propels the car off the line in a way it never could when it was a stock, 170 horsepower L48 with a 3 speed.
Frame: The frame is straight and strong. Reinforcing welds were addedunder theengine cradle to addrigidity for the extra power.
Rear end: The rear end was rebuilt and upgraded with 3.73 ratio rear gears. Synthetic oil was used. Also, a one piece rear spring was installed in place of the original leaf spring and KYB shocks replaced the factory shocks. A new spare tire was installed in thefactoryspare tire tub under the gas tank.
Brakes: The entire disc braking system was refurbished within the last few years with a new OEM brake booster, new OEM replacement pads, new OEM replacement rotors, new OEM brake lines and a remanufactured Delco-Remy OEM replacement calipers.
Wheels/tires: The original steel 15" Rally wheels have received replacement chrome beauty rings and BF Goodrich Radial T/A white lettered, staggered tires with 245/60/R15 tires in the front and 275/60/R15 tires in the rear. The original factory offset was 225 in front and 245 in the rear. The larger tires handle better and provide more grip duringaggressivedriving. The larger tires do not rub at all in dips and turns.
Suspension: Nearly all of the bushings in the front and rear suspensions have been replaced with new bushings. The front and rear shocks were also replaced with KYB gas adjust shocks and the steering box was rebuilt.

Interior: some interior restoration and upgrades have been made over the years, including new carpet, floor mats, steering wheel and center arm rest. The dash board is in really good condition and may have been replaced at some point in the past (there are no cracks). The door panels and seats are presentable and functional but have some noticeable wear in some areas and could use replacement and/or restoration. An aftermarket Pioneer stereo with CD Player, power antenna and custom Pioneer dual 6x9 Pioneer speaker box behind the seats provides music when desired. An Auto Meter large competition tachometer with shift light and Auto Meter transmission temperature gauge have been installed on the A pillar. The car has power windows, which both work, manual door locks and three point safety belts which weren't available in most earlier year C3 Corvettes. Additionally, the analogue clock was rebuilt and works, and all other factory gauges are functional as well. An original owner's manual is also included in the sale.
Exterior: The exterior is in clean condition and ready for paint. The factory hood, which had a couple small, but deep fiberglass cracks, was replaced with an immaculate original used hood from a black 1977 L82 model. I actually love the way the black hood looks on the white car. The factory T-Tops are in excellent condition and secure to the factory installed luggage rack on the rear of the car with included factory optioned brackets when they are removed from the top of the vehicle for storage.
Important notes and disclaimers:
1. The car will not currently pass smog in California. While it passed smog before, the smog pump stopped working and was removed. Other necessary smog equipment was similarly removed and discarded so it cannot be included in the sale. Buyer is responsible for the car passing smog if it will be registered in a state where smog is still required. The car is capable of passing smog but it will take some work and modifications to get it to do so again. However, for those without smog concerns, the car runs absolutely incredibly the way it's currently dialed in and equipped. I just want and need to be clear about this up front.
2. The car, while originally equipped with air conditioning, does not currently have most of the OEM air conditioning equipment installed. At the time of the engine rebuild, the AC compressor, condenser radiator and associated lines and plumbing were removed from the vehicle since they were non-operable when I purchased the vehicle in 2006 and I wanted to utilize the car as more of a street rod. However, if air conditioning is important to you, a vintage air kit is readily available and would include all necessary equipment to reinstall air conditioning in this car.
3. The car is for sale locally in the Los Angeles area and I reserve the right to remove the listing at anytime prior to a sale.
4. I am listing the car at $18,900.00 buy it now but will consider any serious and reasonable offers. While there are some 1977's listed for less which have cleaner looking paint, I know how much time and money has been invested into the engine, transmission, rear end and other mechanical portions of the car. With a nice paint job and some interior TLC, the buyer will have one sexy, fast (and incredible sounding) car. I have well over $30,000 invested in this car but am mindful of the market. While I don't want to sell it, I just inherited an old family vehicle and need to free up a garage stall.
5. Buyer is responsible for any shipping charges or the vehicle will be available for local pick up in the Los Angeles area.
6. $500 will be due upon winning bid. Balance will be due within 7 days and prior to the vehicle being released.
7. Please email me any questions or concerns before purchasing so there are no issues.
