Description

You're viewing my 1970 Corvette Roadster with both tops (soft and hard). The hard top needs restored (didn't come originally from this car, was a vinyl covered top that had its vinyl removed, needs sanded and painted to match, needs blue interior dyed black, etc). The car overall is in good condition. I bought it from the second owner who owned it for almost 30 years. The motor is a non original 454ci big block with 390hp and 500 lbs ft torque. Mileage reads 75,000 and I believe it to be fairly correct. I don't think it's turned over, especially since the car was off the road for decades. Speedo and tach work, but odometer isn't currently.
The car is one of my favorite color combos from that era. The elderly gentleman I bought it from had the car repainted back in the early 90's (the one and only repaint I was told, in its original Bridgehampton Blue color) before he took it off the road a few years later for health reasons. The paint looks pretty good from about 5', but upon close inspection you'll find little defects, stone chips, etc from being an almost 30 year old paint job. The paint isn't "dull", but is getting tired. Someone good at paint correction might be able to do wonders with it. I kinda dig the entire vibe of the car that it's a driver and not an overly restored car that you're afraid to take anywhere. The gaps are pretty good all around the car. Not perfect, but certainly presentable. There are some very minor small cracks in the fiberglass in a few places around the car, like under one of the tail lights and behind a rear bumper where the mount is, and along the rear top edge of the rear deck/tail. Again, VERY minor and they don't really stand out, just trying to be transparent.
The interior of the car is very presentable for a driver quality car. Seat covers are like new, door panels are very good, console is decent, dash pad has one minor crack in the center. Carpet is good. Seat belt receivers are mounted, outer belts are included but need bolted in. Needs floor mats (none in the car). The white soft top is in very good shape as well, with little to no shrinkage and a clear rear window. The rear view mirror bracket needs repaired where it sets into two little slots to tighten (mirror included, just not mounted). Rear storage bin covers are present, 2 bins are present but tired.
When I bought the car earlier this Spring, it had been sitting inside his garage for over 20 years unused. He said he would start it occasionally just to keep things "lubed and working", but it hadn't been registered and on the road for two decades. I went thru the car and got it running fairly well. It currently has a Holley 4 barrel on it, but I have what I was told is the original Rochester Quadrajet that needs rebuilt. Still needs a little tweaking, maybe with the distributor/points as well. Just not getting "all" of the power out of the motor, but it's strong and runs well. An electronic ignition would do wonders. Correct ignition shielding is present under the hood.
Since buying the car, I also had an electric motor headlight conversion done, bypassing the annoying and troublesome vacuum system. I replaced the wiper motor but the wiper door is inop (still vacuum, just haven't chased down the leak). All lights work: headlights go up and down perfectly now, turn signals work, marker lights, tail lights, etc. Horn works. All gauges work properly. Clock is inop. Power windows work well. Original Astro Glass side windows are nice. Windshield is nice, no chips or cracks. Brightwork/chrome around the car is pretty good. Rear bumpers show very light pitting. Factory side pipes sound amazing. Iput 4 brand new Cooper radial white letter tires on it recently, as well as all new calipers, rotors, and pads. Rally wheels and chrome trim rings are in nice shape. Stops great. Power steering works well. Car could use new suspensionbushings as I'm guessing they're the originals. Not "sloppy" but not as tight as it could be.
The underside, frame, and birdcage of the car are in pretty good shape. Not like new, but not a rusty mess either. Typical scaling from just being an old car. After all, it is nearly 50 years old! Still beautiful after 5 decades! The car drives down the road good, but a bushing kit would do wonders.
This is an opportunity to get into a nice driver quality convertible Corvette without breaking the bank. Plus it's a big block 4 speed highly optioned car (really the only option missing is AC). I get thumbs up and honks every time I drive her! I am open to entertaining offers to end auction early as I do have it advertised elsewhere. Please realize this is not a $60,000 restored show car, it's a driver quality car that looks good and will be a great investment over time as well as a fun toy to own! I hate selling it but we're moving soon and between not having similar space to keep it and wanting to pay down some debt to keep my wife happy, she's got to go to a new home.
Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. Please have your finances in order before bidding, and have permission from your significant other first! No games please. No Zero feedback bidders without reaching out to me first or you will be deleted and blocked. Too many games played! You're not bidding to "think about it", you're committing to buy! This is a NO RESERVE auction, so the last bid wins! I can however end the auction at any time as the car is for sale in other places.
I require a $500 PayPal deposit immediately following the auction so I know you're a legit buyer, and the remaining balance to be bank wired within 3 business days. No exceptions. I can hold the car safely for you until shipping can be arranged. I will happily sell overseas but ALL arrangements are made and paid for by the winning buyer.
With that said, happy bidding and good luck!
