1972 Chevy C-10 Restomod Yenko Tribute 525HP LS3 Crate Engine Clear Title
Description
1972 Chevy C10 Yenko Tribute
This unique Yenko tribute is the truck that Don Yenko never built but should have! Two cosmetic changes have been made since the original photos were taken: the spokes on the Torq-Thrust wheels are now painted black and the grille has been changed back to chrome, everything else remains the same. This Restomod has been built to a very high standard and was a recent winner of the World of Wheels show in Pittsburgh PA. The Hugger Orange is original to the truck, but the Yenko graphics are custom-made. The Yenko theme carries throughout the truck including badging. Cooper Cobra Radial GT Tires ride on American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels with black spokes. The "427" fender emblems are unique, custom-made parts for this truck. The seat is covered in hound's-tooth material and includes Camaro headrests with the sYc logo embroidered onto them. Body modifications are few but tasteful. Fuel tank was moved out of the cab and put under the bed, so the filler neck is now accessible behind the marker light. Custom stainless ports are there for the exhaust to exit through the bed sides. And the truck has a sunroof installed. Although the truck's exterior looks old-school, the drive train certainly isn't. Power comes from a new GM 525 horsepower LS 376/525 crate engine that is backed up with a six-speed 6L90e automatic transmission. You can let the computer do the shifting, or switch to manual mode and bang the gears yourself with the paddle shifters. All of this power is put to the ground by a 12-bolt posi-traction rear end that is stabilized with a pair of CalTracks traction bars. Not that you need it, but if you ever get the urge to really put on a show, the line-lock is there for you. The 525 hp LS engine sounds badass through the headers and X-pipe, but generous use of sound deadening inside the cab makes for a quiet ride with the windows up. This truck is easy on the passengers on long rides down the Interstate. The combination of sound deadening, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, and the 6-speed overdrive transmission combine to make it into a very civilized vehicle on long rides. The suspension is slightly lowered via 2" dropped front spindles and re-arched rear springs. Brakes are OEM-style front disc / rear drums, but the power boost comes from the hydro-boost unit requiring no vacuum to operate. Driver / passenger comforts include full instrumentation, Vintage Air air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, cruise control, and American Autosound radio / CD player.
The vehicle is currently on display at Wade's Garage in Fairmont WV and is available for inspection there. It has less than 3000 miles since build was completed.
