1967 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe
The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro appeared in Chevrolet dealerships in September 1966 for the 1967 model year on a brand-new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2+2 seat, hardtop (no "B" or center pillar) or convertible, with the choice of either a straight-six or V8 engine. The first-generation Camaro was built through the 1969 model year.
Offered here at Classic Auto Mall is a restored Chevrolet Camaro. New paint, transmission, interior, and with a 300hp period correct motor, this car is a turnkey get up and go-tie Camaro.
Exterior
Born a Deepwater Blue car with blue interior, it now has taken on a fresh look, of a silver with black wrap around grille stripe. Paint has numerous small inclusions and mini fisheyes. Steel panels are fairly straight, badging is nonexistent, and bumpers and brite-work is in good condition with nicely chromed smooth surfaces. Ridler smoked chromed 5 spoke wheels are seen on all 4 corners.
Interior
Originally a column shifter, now has been relegated to the floor. Black replaces blue in the interior, and some patina and slight wear is seen on the vinyl. Door panels are showroom, and carpet and headliner (slightly loose) are in good condition. The dash has been reworked to black and shows correct instrumentation for the period. Blast your tunes with a 200-watt Classic Auto Sounds AM/FM with an auxiliary cord. A shout out to the trunk which has been sprayed with trunk liner paint.
Drivetrain
A pop of the hood, and you are met with the most stunning aspect of this car. The original engine has been replaced with a 1964-67 327ci V8. It is topped by a single 4-barrel carburetor and backed by a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. This combo puts out 300hp. The block has been repainted red, as well as the red air cleaner atop the 4 barrels. Chromed valve covers, and a nice gray cast intake, all within a restored black engine bay, and it just gleams in there.
Undercarriage
All good, all clean, all upgraded to power disc brakes, tube control arms, and a 10 bolt rear.
Nicely done, presents good, and accelerates like there is no tomorrow, a turn key classic which is an early muscle answer to the Mustang.
