Description

It's a Chevelle. It's black. It's got a big block. Need we say more? If you're looking for a brutally fast piece of muscle that's beautifully finished and turnkey, this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Tribute might be your best choice. a 396 V8 and featuring a comfortable bucket seat interior, this Chevelle is a sinister bruiser that's ready to dominate your local thoroughfare. The horsepower wars were all but over in 1972, but the Chevelle still... looked every part of a street brawler. Thanks to the vast interchangeability of the parts, all the big horsepower pieces bolt right in and you can give it a genuine SS paint job to complete the illusion. This one started out as a clean, straight car anyway, so making it look this good was a lot easier with solid bones to start with. In fact, it was so straight that black paint became the obvious choice and it looks downright brutal with the white SS stripes, which are actually decals that have been buried underneath the clearcoat. A lot of A-body enthusiasts like the later single-headlight look for its cleaner lines, and combined with the blacked-out SS grille, cowl hood, reproduction SS badging, and flashy, newer chrome bumpers, this is one heck of a good-looking car which turns heads everywhere it goes. The interior remains fairly stock, and with comfortable black bucket seats it has a purposeful look that serves the Chevelle quite well. The seat covers are in great shape with very little signs of use, as is the crack-free dash pad, so it looks and feels fresh when you slide behind the two-spoke wheel. There are SS door panels to match, the black carpets are plush and very clean, and the center console houses a highly-desirable horseshoe shifter that manages the TH350 automatic transmission below. Note that Vintage A/C has been added to this Chevelle, and the system is running R134a refrigerant so it's blowing nice and cold and will always be easy to service in the future. In addition to the stock gauges inside the Malibu bezel, white-face Equus Auxiliary gauges hang under the dash in the usual location, a big Auto Meter tachometer is strapped to the steering column, and a modern Retro-Sound AM/FM/AUX stereo powers speaker throughout the cabin and makes it easy to spend time behind the wheel. The trunk is remarkably clean as well, finished with heavy-duty carpeting and housing a full-size spare and jack set, not to mention enough room to accommodate most travel plans. You could still get a big block from the factory in 1972, but nothing that ran like this one. A powerful 396 cubic inch V8 (date coded as a 1969 block) was stuffed between the fenders, painted Chevy Orange, and topped with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer intake to help build horsepower. Aside from the Edelbrock open-element air cleaner and a few chrome bits highlighted with the sparkling valve covers, it looks like the factory might have built it this way. Lots of newer equipment, including the chromed alternator and Vintage A/C compressor mean that it's ready to cruise today, and the tidy and clean engine bay is a pleasure to show off at the local cruise night. Long-tube headers feed a snarky dual exhaust system gives the big block a baritone rumble and with a TH350 3-speed automatic and a 12-bolt rear end, you don't have to worry about breakage if you get on the loud pedal now and then. A newer steering box for the power steering system mean this Chevelle handles like a dream, and the power front disc brakes bring the whole show to a stop. The chassis sits just right with a bit of rake for a hot-rod attitude and staggered American Racing Torque Thrusts wear 225/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear Nitto performance radials. A big, bad, black Chevelle with a killer powertrain, this is your opportunity to get into an A-list piece of muscle that's turn-key and ready to rock. Call today!
