1977 Chevy 3/4 ton Fleetside Scottsdale long bed
I’m offering this spectacularly re-finished ‘77 work truck on behalf of a busy client. I have the clear OH title in hand ready to transfer. See the “about the seller” paragraph below to find out how I operate.
We are talking about a pick up from the days when you got something with no frills—as in NO AC, NO power windows, no back seat—yeah, something like your grandpa drove. But remember, fewer things to repair on an older vehicle means, more money in your pocket over the long term!
Highlights
—appears to be a very extensive re-finish job—invoice shows “$1000 for sandblasting” to prep everything for painting, new splash pans, mirrors, bumpers and other trim powder coated, stainless steel fasteners used to put everything back together.Paint appears to be a very high quality base/clear effort with only a few small imperfections, a few nicks and scrapes from use—refinishing work was done in 2018. The panel gaps aren’t perfect—left edge of hood is higher than adjacent fender for example but given the manufacturing tolerances of 50 yrs ago, nothing looks out of place.
The truck was obviously completely disassembled and painted windows out, bed off, etc.Windshield and rear window were resealed. All glass is good.Underside is exceptionally clean—see photos.Bed has a nicely applied, textured sprayed-in liner beautiful inside, outside and underneath.
—decent (probably original) bench seat
—new OE style carpeting plus winter rubber mats
—door cards look to be original in very good condition
—350 chevy motor replaced the original at some point, runs and sounds great with aftermarket headers adding to the sound effects
—transmission shifts smoothly with no slipping
—decent set of 4 matching tires
—brakes are quiet and stop the truck without drama
—power steering works fine, truck tracks well at highway speeds
—new battery (12/2018)
—Alpine bluetooth stereo with USB port, phone connectivity
—No fluid leaks
Lowlights, Issues
—speedometer needle bounces around like a Geiger counter that just discovered uranium
—gas gage not working
—aftermarket tach on steering wheel not working
—engine blows some smoke on cold start up which goes away as it comes up to temperature
—there’s an occasional engine backfire on deceleration
—drivers shoulder belt take up pulley not working.
Possible uses?
This truck is so pretty, it would make a great vintage delivery vehicle with a company’s logo applied. It would also be a great candidate for a resto-mod with all the heavy-lifting body and paint work out of the way.
Or want to have a little fun with that over-entitled daughter?
Suppose little Tiffany is expecting a Beemer or Audi to drive to Ridgemont High? Here’s the perfect attitude-adjuster for her.Driving a crank-window, AC-less grandpa truck would teach her all about humility and the true meaning of getting from A to B.
But seriously folks!
This is a beautiful and very solid truck that needs some minor fixes as noted above.Obviously someone made an out of scale investment to make it pretty but as they say, his loss is your gain.I have set the opening bid at less than the restoration costs and am willing to listen to offers.
