STORY OF MY 1963 CORVETTEI purchased the car in 1988. It was completely apart in boxes. The previous owner had been working on the car for over 14 years and really just took it apart which is a lot of work. I do all of my own work including painting over the last 50 years and this is my hobby. This was a complete body off restoration with frame getting sandblasted, epoxy coated and polyurethane finish. I have built many cars & motorcycles in that time period. Back to the car !I cleaned, replaced, rebuilt or bought new parts .... EVERY PART .....each part has been done over on the car over the 5 year period. The original paint (exterior) was Saddle Tan. I did not like that exterior color and painted the car #923 Riverside Red Acrylic Lacquer (correct code from Ditzler DDL 70961 paint) for that year. The (interior) is the correct code Saddle Tan 898E ( with Real Leather Bucket Seats). I have gotten many compliments with that combination which was available from General Motors at that time period. For some reason I have not seen any with that combination and it was available from General Motors. The engine must have been replaced in 1963 casting numbers are on the block #378270 Date of casting* G192* . Stamped on block is 3100595 F09I2RE which means the block is RE .. 327...340 ...AFB 1x4 BC, Hi-Lift Cam & Man Tr. Carburetor AFB, Manifold (3794129), & exhaust manifold (3797901 & 3797902) are correct for 1963 Corvette. It is not a "matching number" car by 9 months, motor must have be changed early in its life. The car was finished in 1993. It originally had the single line brake when first I first finished the car, I changed that later to a dual master cylinder with the power booster later for safety. I also put front wheel disc brakes for the safety factor. Everything could be taken off and put back to originally condition if wanted. The car has never broken down in its 25,338 miles (over 24 years). The Corvette has never been on a trailer for going to shows or break downs. I believe in driving every project car or motorcycle I have built in my career !!! 4 years ago we installed A/C from Classic Air from Texas. My wife wanted it and I have to say that was the best improvement I ever made for comfort !!!
We installed 1000-watt stereo system (custom built) with a 10-disc Sony CD changer (hidden behind seat see photo) operated by a remote. The radio is a PIONEER KEH-5656 replacing the original AM radio. It has outstanding sound !!! The only flaw I consider is there are two spots where the paint checked (SEE PHOTO) and I believe it was my fault where something hit that area (see photos) about 1-1/2" diameter. Oddly, no judges at car shows have ever spotted these minor flaws ! They are very hard to detect. To the best of my knowledge everything is correct that is mentioned above ! If you have any questions.... please email me. Reason I am selling car is because I am building a new car. Thanks, Jim
