Description

OK here we go again with a new lower price. First time I listed it I had a couple good offers and several trade options. I need the garage space so that's the only reason letting go of my wagon. As you can see it's a 1960 Chevy Kingswood 9 passenger wagon with Ride Tech digital air ride.
  • It has a low mileage 5.3 LS conversion with a slick shifting T56 six speed and 3.70 rear gear.
  • It has a tight, modern rack and pinion steering with a full custom tubular front sub-frame.
  • It has a custom made 3" mandrel bent TIG welded exhaust that is all V banded and tucked tight to the frame.
  • It has new power brakes all the way around including new shoes, springs and wheel cylinders in the rear and front disc brakes.
  • It has new axle seals, a new in-tank fuel pump, new u-joints and new carrier bearing.
  • It starts, runs and drives reliably.
  • It has a new Champion aluminum radiator and electric fan set up that keeps it running cool even in traffic.
  • It is wearing a set of freshly painted 15" factory GM wheels with the correct (expensive) original GM dog dish hubcaps and brand new tires all the way around.

As you can see, this car still has most of it's original, impossible to find 60 year old original paint. If you look up "patina" this is about as close to perfect as you will ever find. It has some minor dents and dings but has never been wrecked or repainted. The hood is also original paint, but was swapped from another one of my original cars. It is slightly less faded than the rest of the car, but I do have the original hood and will include it if the buyer wants it. The original hood had some dents on top so I swapped it out for this better one. The rest of the car is 100% original finish with no touch ups or blended areas. The car is super straight with excellent rockers, both inside and out. The grille is very nice also.As with all of these old original paint cars, there are some crusty areas as you can see but it is all in lower areas and easy to take care of or just leave it as is and drive it. I don't let this car sit outside and it is always in a climate controlled garage so it's not progressing, the steel on these old rides is really thick compared with modern cars. The chassis is rock solid and the car was treated to rust proofing at some point. Overall it is among the best OG paint 1960 Chevy wagons that I have seen and I have owned five others.

Even with all the work that has been completed, I still consider this to be a lite project car and have priced it accordingly.
It really doesn't NEED too much, but it would sure be NICER if the interior and some small items were addressed. These are decisions that the new owner can make for themselves.
The seats are firm and usable but have older upholstery. There is no carpet, only dynamat on the floors. The headliner shown in the pictures is brand new from Ciadellas but needs to be installed. There is an extra 2 yards of matching vinyl to cover the visors. Door panels are complete with all the stainless trim but the vinyl is tired. Being an Arizona car most of the weatherstripping is dry. These are easy things to do and with a little money and spare time would really take this car to another level. This car could really be a show stopper with a fresh interior kit!
This car has working headlights, tail lights and brake lights and gas gauge but no turn signals at this time.No heater. I don't drive my hot rods in the winter so it wasn't a big deal to me. I have not taken the time to investigate this as my plan was to install a modern air conditioning system and it already has the compressor mounted on the engine. Speedometer needs a cable and adapter to mate with the T56. Engine monitoring gauges are mounted under the dash but would look better with a modern conversion gauge package. Again, these are upgrades that the new owner can make the decisions on.
I have priced this car as a project with all the hard work being done already, with a fresh interior I figure this car to sell in the upper $30,000's to mid $40,000 range. Look around you'll see what they are going for with these mods. The winning bidder can enjoy it as it is or invest some money and take it to the next level. Whatever you decide to do, you can rest assured that you will not lose money on this hard to find factory 9 passenger wagon.
