DescriptionI purchased this nice original 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air from and elderly gentleman who bought it 2nd hand back in 1966. He explained to me that he spotted this beautiful 2-Door Sport Coupe on a Chevy Dealers used car lot where he impulse bought the then 8 year old used car for $795.
He drove the car regularly but not as an everyday driver and always parked it during the winter. The cars condition reflects its 48,822 miles and his good stewardship of it. He continued to drive the car into the mid-1980's when reverse went out of the old powerglide transmission. He pushed the car into his garage and covered it with some blankets where it was properly stored for the next 30+ years. The previous owner also relayed that other than regular maintenance he only cleaned and repainted the engine and had the eyebrows on top the front fenders repaired and the white paint spotted back in.
We brought this Bel Air out of hibernation and thoroughly washed the 2-tone body and then gave it a good wax & detail. It cleaned up well and is in nice original survivor quality condition. This 58 Chevy has never been wrecked, rebuilt, repainted or taken apart for restoration.
This Sport Coupe has the attractive and desirable color combination of an Arctic White & Sierra Gold Body with a 3-Tone Cloth & Vinyl Interior.
The body is clean & straight showing no signs of any previous damage or sheet metal replacement. We removed the front & rear seats, carpeting and trunk mat for you to see how clean and original the floor pans are. After doing so we discovered a partial build sheet glued to the top of the tunnel. With the exception of the eyebrows this car is rust-free from top to bottom. Even though the paint is still nice & shiny and is not stained, crazed or cracked it does have some chips scratches & the body has several minor dents. The hood doors and trunk lid all open close & latch easily and lock correctly with their original keys. All of the clear window glass is in nice original condition having no chips, scratches or cracks and the windows roll up & down nicely. Please note the condition of the trunk that is all complete and original with it's rubber mat, cardboard liners, spare tire with tools & the bumper jack.
All of the chrome, moldings, emblems etc., are in nice shiny bright condition and appear to be original to the car. There are several very small dings on a few of the side moldings and a dent in the drivers side rear bumper end.
The original vinyl and cloth interior is still very nice and presentable having no rips, tears, burns or sun fade. The front and rear seats are a combination of a gold & beige vinyl with black & gold patterned cloth inserts with the headliner and sun visors being white. The gold dashboard & instrument panel look like new and all of the gauges, lights, switches, signals, heater, horn, etc. are in good operating condition. The steering wheel and horn ring are both excellent and uncracked. The 2-tone vinyl door and rear seat side panels are equally as nice as the rest of the interior and are not wrinkled up or water stained. The carpeting is also original but does show age and is worn through under the passenger side front floor mat.
This Chevy still retains it's original 6-cylinder engine with a 2-speed power glide transmission. The engine sounds & runs good and does not smoke, tick, knock or leak any fluids. The automatic transmission shifts correctly between Lo High Drive & Park but does not go into Reverse. My 23rd or next to the last photo shows a NOS GM factory rebuilt cast iron power glide transmission that will be included with the car for you to have installed.
Recent service work performed was "New": Master & wheel cylinders and hoses. Fuel tank, sending unit & pump. Restored radiator, Electrical tune up and a completely new Aluminized exhaust system.
The car runs straight, stops on a dime with it's new brakes and steers easily running on an older set of Bias Ply Wide White Wall Tires that do need replaced because of their age.
This 1958 Chevy Bel Air is complete from the air cleaner to it's bumper jack and even has it's owners manual and original build sheet that will be included.
