Description

1976 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

By 1976, the United States economy was on the mend from the 19731975 global economic recession. The recession, which had been caused in part by the 1973 oil crisis, had caused gas prices to soar which, in turn, had made automotive manufacturers begin re-evaluating the types of vehicles they were manufacturing. Over 540,000 third generation Corvettes were built between 1968 and 1982 making the C3 generation the most produced Corvette ever and the most popular for the collector.

The would be the last year, since its 1968 inception where a C3 generation car would have the Stingray moniker on its body. Maintaining the classic Stingray shape, although much smoother styling with its undulating hood, and rounded rear, this consignment presents itself in beautiful gold metal flake with matching numbers engine.

Exterior
Excellent Venetian Bronze metallic coats the fiberglass on this garage kept curvaceous example. The iconic Stingray "gills" if you will vent cool air into the engine bay from directly south of the front wheel wells. Brite work is minimal but in good condition. A pristine stainless molding on both rockers adds a nice highlight and protects the rocker. Deep dish rims, and standard Corvette wheel covers are on all 4 corners. On the rear deck a chrome luggage rack has been installed. Body matching roof panels can be removed to form an open "T" top

Interior
Brown on brown leather buckets looking like new. Door panels showing some very slight wear have wood appliqu in the middle and brown carpet on the bottoms. A brown center console houses the gearshift, climate controls and an ashtray. As we move upon to the center of the dash, we note several round gauges keeping track of essential functions, and all in working condition with some scratching on the black finish. Dark brown plastic houses the dual round deep dish gauges behind the steering wheel, which have a few persistent spots in the gauge glass. Brown carpet abounds and is slightly faded in the rear stowage area.

Drivetrain
The 350ci V8 which is numbers matching has a 4-barrel carburetor on top. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is attached to the back. For a visual kick, orange valve covers, chromed master cylinder cap and black matte air cleaner are adorning this engine.

Undercarriage
A mostly rust-free frame with some invasive rust under the front cowl and all-around patina and structural soundness under here. Headers and an upgraded exhaust have been added, and 4-wheel disc brakes are present. Composite mono leaf rear spring have also been put on.

Drive-Ability
It's not every day you can get into your favorite design version of the Corvette, and it's bathed in Venetian Bronze...I've only seen one other. This one drive very nicely, started right up, and went like the wind. It also handled really well. Call me biased, but loving this design, I also love the performance.

Very '70's Venetian Bronze metal flake, and the curvaceous rounded design, removable T top panels, quick engine, and nifty interior, all I can say is Scooby Doo!
