Description

As many hobbyists have discovered, one of the best ways to get the cool old car of your dreams is to buy someone else's finished project. This 1952 Chevy coupe, for example, was completed just a few years ago and includes upgrades like a 327 cubic inch V8 and an overdrive transmission without losing its original look. So why waste months or years building yours when this one is available for such a reasonable price? Put your own spin on it and get out there and start having fun! You're in luck with this Chevy, because the work was quite well done, which means very clean sheetmetal that has a classic early '50s look that still hadn't joined the jet age. A few body tweaks make it look unique, from the nosed and decked hood to all the shaved trim, it definitely shows the work of a talented craftsman. The finish is quite good, with a depth and shine that comes from careful prep and plenty of time invested on the back side with color sanding, buffing, and plenty of TLC since it was finished. Basic black works well on any car from the early '50s, and this one has an honest look that will certainly fool a lot of folks into thinking it's purely stock, which was probably the builder's intention all along. After all, why mess with a good thing? And the good news is that all the chrome remains in excellent shape and the stainless has been buffed up to look great, making this one smartly dressed little coupe. The gray cloth interior offers a nice contrast to the black bodywork, and nobody can argue that it doesn't look period-correct and it should wear like iron. Factory bench seats front and rear offer great comfort and support for long hauls, and pleated door panels continue the factory vibe. The dashboard got smothered in a custom stainless fascia with the instruments being modern dials that have a distinctly vintage look. There's an under-dash A/C unit that seems to fit like it was born there, and a modern tilt steering column uses a leather-wrapped wheel from a late-model. In the center of the dash there's a modern AM/FM/CD stereo head unit and a custom-built wood center console is there to hold your drinks. Pop the trunk and you'll find a very original-looking cargo bay, right down to the rubber mat and original spare wheel with bias-ply tire.Plenty of power is on tap, courtesy of a mid-60s 327 cubic inch V8, and that's horsepower that'll never go out of style. Lots of chrome and billet aluminum, an Edelbrock intake and carb, and an HEI ignition system give it modern looks and performance, and things like the alternator and A/C compressor make it reliable. Smooth inner fenders and firewall provide a great backdrop for the engine itself, and someone obviously spent some time making the plumbing and wiring look neat. The undercarriage is clean, anchored by a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and the stock rear end, while the front suspension is pretty stock with a Saginaw power steering setup. Steel wheels with wire wheelcovers from a later Caprice Classic complete the look and are wrapped in 235/75/15 whitewall radials all around.A fun, reliable cruiser that has a ton of eyeball appeal. It's also affordable and ready to go. Why wait? Call today!
